Checklist cover letter and instructions sent by NVC

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if this is "normal" procedure: A month ago we mailed the AOS and IV packets to NVC, followed by the DS-260. A week ago an agent told my husband our paperwork was being processed and that it could take another week or two. So far, so good. I figured we'd get an email any day now with a case complete message or date of interview but just now, I received an email with a Checklist cover letter and instructions for the IV packet! Why would NVC send us this? The agent already confirmed they received our paperwork before Christmas. Is this a mistake or could they have lost EVERYTHING?

Did your IV packet include the DS-230, or was it just the civil documents that are needed with the DS-260? If you didn't send in a DS-230, chances are their system is kicking out an automatic message even though you don't need the DS-230 for Montreal. I called up and ended up talking to a supervisor to get confirmation that it was just an error (the first agent didn't know the difference between the old EP system and the DS-260).

If you did send in the DS-230, then I'm not so sure. But, it's clear that the NVC is still working their way through figuring out how to process the DS-260. It's probably worth calling and talking to a supervisor. I did a lot of, "so just so we're clear, what you just said is ..." type questions to make sure there wasn't any miscommunication.

You're right. It was an automatic message. Yes, we had included the DS-230 form with all the original civil documents and mailed that off the third week of December...and then found out courtesy of Montreal Girl that we also needed to fill out a DS-260. My husband double-checked with a NVC agent who said everything was good and that we should be getting a case complete email and interview date sometime this week. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Awesome. I hope that agent was right about the timing, because it means I should be getting my case complete real soon too!

Our timelines are pretty similar so let's hope we both hear back from NVC soon. Where in the States are you (or your spouse) moving to? I'm in Vancouver, will be moving to Bellingham (a half hour south of the border). We're lucky in that we're able to see each other every weekend.

I just got a sign in failed today, so I'm pretty pumped. Hopefully they continue the pattern of sending interview dates along with the case complete letter.

My wife's moving from Winnipeg to the Boston area. So, we get to see each other every 4-6 weeks, but it looks like we'll be done with that pretty soon.

Oh my goodness! I checked after reading your post and my sign in failed today too! Winnipeg to Boston! Oh, your poor wife--she's not escaping cold winters, is she? Congratulations to both of us! I hope our interviews are no later than March.
