Actually, no, It isn't Charles. That is why I asked you to elaborate.

it does not bother you one bit that they included religion as part of their basis for determining whether a state was tolerant or not? i would have thought that shoulda jumped out at you.

It wouldn't bother most from that website. Most on that site has always raged against any religion and especially Christians.

Stereotype much? Try some actual facts next time.

Read much without knowing what you talking about? Didn't think so. Now go back and read the comments section on that very story. Also I have read articles from that site before and it is the same old diatribe. Now try and go and read a few articles and especially read the comments. After that you will possibly but doubtful get some sense of what I wrote and learn something.whistling.gifwhistling.gif

Interesting how you labeled this thread as "most tolerent" and "worst."

Also interesting how the three most "tolerant" states have some of the strictest gun laws in the country.

Well come on now..... Tolerance has only two meanings in todays vernacular.

One is machinist lingo, the other is

liberal-speak, things they approve of.... not tolerance for all.

I suppose in your narrow mindset, a few comments at the end of an article are indicative of a greater scale belief.

No wonder your grasp of tolerance is so exiguous.

I lived in southern Ohio for 3 years. I am not at all surprised to see it on this list!

Been through southern OH at least six times, and I disagree with you.

Been through? What does that mean? You had a stop-over at CVG? Passed through on I-75 or I-71? How can you have a picture from merely having been through an area?

I've lived there for a bit over a year and it doesn't surprise me at all to see it where it is on this ranking. In fact, had I known what that place is like, I probably wouldn't have moved there to begin with. All I knew about it was what I saw having been through the place many times before...

I'm bothered by their definition of religious tolerance. Believing that many religions lead to eternal life is not what I would consider the definition of tolerance. That just seems to be not really having strong religious convictions.

We don't have to feel that "you're okay and I'm okay" and we're all going to heaven. That's ridiculous. As long as we're not imposing on each other and we have freedom to worship as we feel; that's tolerance.

It's not a very tolerant position to believe that your faith is the only truth, particularly when such faith is unprovable. Why can't you believe in your truth without condemning other faiths?

I guess we just define tolerance differently. Most faiths deal with the question of where you will spend eternity. We simply can't avoid that. So, if I don't belong to a certain faith, then certainly, in their eyes I will be doomed to spending eternity in a not very happy place. That's the very nature of religious belief. But I view them as being tolerant if they're not trying to push their faith on me. As long as I get to live with my beliefs and they live with theirs, and we get along as human being; that is my definition of tolerance. If we can believe differently and still get along, isn't that good enough.

Not every religion professes a belief that only their followers have any hope of a life eternal. The concept is elitist and contradictory to any understanding of a loving and merciful God.
