YES! It is.

I sent my AOS package on Nov.8th 2010, and i still can not see my case status. I get the same response you get. I called them up and they were able to give me the updates of my case. I already got a RFE and i have completed my biometrics and on my case status it says the same thingg :my case can not be found.

Took mine about a month and then it worked

Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283.

I recently entered the USCIS quagmire for a second time and my receipt number is not available either. I have spoken to a tier 2 at USCIS and was told that a system glitch has resulted in an unknown number of cases (mine included) being unavailable in the online portal. I was told that furthermore, some if not all of the effected cases would never be available for online status checks. This unfortunately means that many people will be able to check the status of their cases only by calling USCIS and requesting that the call be elevated.

Hmm.. don't you just love sweet standard protocol? We exactly heard the same thing. They even told us to just wait for the hard copy of the approval. I hope my husband will not go nuts looking at his mail box every freaking 6 hours in a few weeks :bonk:

I had mailed my I-130 on Nov. 26th and received the e-mail stating they had received my petition on Dec. 13th. In the e-mail it had stated to wait until I received the hard copy before checking. Of course I immediately started checking even though I knew I would not see it. I received the hard copy of the I-797 about 10 days later as I expected extra time due to my location. I still waited another week before I called. Once I called the initial operator could not find anything and ended up transferring me to a tier 2 officer. At first the officer was very short with me stating the Vermont Center was very busy and they were backed up and it might be a long time before it made it into the system if it ever did (for my checking in case status). I than explained I was worried about any RFE's because of the time it would take for mail to reach me and get returned to them. She became much nicer than and asked if I had signed up for the e-mails. She told me I would receive e-mails which would get to me before any update was posted to the case status even if I was in it. This gave me some relief, as I would know about them ahead of time. The case status final started appearing on Dec. 31st though so about 3 weeks later than the Dec. 5th receive date on the I-797

Oh ok... Well, I'm so fed up with the whole thing...

I found out now to that everything costs like 1000 $ (I was really naive, I thought the 420 $ for I 130 is all :bonk: ) just for the documents! And what for? For waiting all the time?

Well whatever... I can't wait to get the Greencard, I don't know how it was with you guys, but everytime I travelled to USA, they treated me like a criminal at the border control. All these fingerprints and photos and questions. Jeeeeezzzz, I mean really? I mean yes, I come from a small country, but we don't even have a real army. Ok, I have to admit, Hitler was born in Austria, but you know the best thing ever? One time they seriously asked me if I was ever engaged in any Nazi spionage ?! And I was like ####### dude. World War II is like 70 years over, and I'm like 25... Read some history books...
