Is your uncle a gynaecologist? An endocrinologist, perhaps?

Yep. He's all of those things. He's the govt.

One has to ask, how long before the Americans with disabilities act kicks in too.

This is what people don't realize. The military is not equal opportunity. It is the military. If we apply equal opportunity we'll get our @$$es equally kicked.

You are wrong on this one Slim. Read the article again. They don't ask for being singled out and treated differently. Just the opposite. They want to be considered on their own merits without restriction or special consideration based on gender. You should be supporting this.

They're asking to be placed in units they're not currently assigned to in order to go to combat. There's a reason women are not in those units. How is that not asking for special consideration?

On their own merits would mean if they qualify in every respect except gender let them qualify. Not too complicated Danno... Oh...

As Danno's pointed out, the first thing that happens when women come into a unit or MOS is they establish a "women's standard." I don't see anyone here saying women shouldn't be allowed to do what they can. What people are saying is we shouldn't lower the standard so more people can be included just because they don't have a #######.

There is not 1 woman on planet earth that is qualified to be a Navy Seal.

That is correct.

However, I believe there are women that could do it.

If they can't meet the MOS's, if they don't meet min-max for height and weight, then they don't meet the position standards the same as a male with the same disqualifications. They should not be disqualified, when meeting or exceeding ALL other standards simply for being female. That is what they are suggesting.

Are they really? Seems to me they're asking for inclusion into areas they're not legally allowed to be included in.

I would not support lowering the standard qualifications but would support allowing women able to meet position standards being able to qualify if they choose to try.

I'm all for that as well. But what tends to happen is the three females in the company use all the hot water before the 147 males get a chance to shower. Is that your idea of fairness?

Does every male qualify to become special ops? No. Does every male qualify to become a SEAL? No. But if a female can qualify should she be disallowed simply for being female? No.

Like I said above, I think there are women that could do it.

I doubt those women are in the army or navy.

Just the opposite Slm! The special consideration is what now keeps them out of those units. They want that special consideration ended.

I'll tell you what, you make one standard and I have no problem with it.

As it stands right now there's a mens standard and a womens standard. Only one is a combat standard.

There are women firefighters and front line police officers. If women can do those jobs they can do them all. Anyone who says otherwise is a chauvinist.

Do you know for a fact, these women are duplicating the standards men in those professions are held too?

Very few women can do even one pull up.

Danno, that is a horribly misogynistic thing to say, not to mention completely devoid of any facts. It is also telling of your ignorance. When was the last time you went to the gym?. I've seen women doing hundreds of pullups a few days ago, at the gym. As to your question regarding police and fire personnel, I cannot speak for anywhere else other than where I work, but yes. The standards are for an OFFICER, or FIREFIGHTER, there is no separate rubric for men and women, and why would there be?

Do you know for a fact that they aren't? Have you any means of testing whether or not this is the case?

Fact is, women do difficult physically demanding jobs alongside men. Why should front line combat be any different?

If the truth is "misogynistic" thats not my problem.

-Fact: Women in the military are held to a lesser physical standard.

-Fact Most women can not, I repeat Cannot even do a single pull up.

Deal..
