Hi there!

I decided to share my story with you, not just for the sake of other people reading it and feeling there are many other couples in the world in the same situation, but also for myself, because I always have a hard time talking about it. About the long distance relationship I got myself involved in. Mostly because many of my friends think this will never work the way my lover and I would want, but also because we've met on a pretty silly site.

I'm from Slovenia, a small pocket country in the Middle Europe, of course English is not my mother language (as you can probably notice), and I met my current boyfriend on Tagged. A site where you meet pen friends from many different countries. I wanted to improve my English, so I joined and I had no idea that I'll meet someone who have managed to completely change my life by now. There was a bunch of silly men, mostly horny ones with inappropriate approach but I insisted. It happened on 11th July 2010. He messaged me out of nowhere, he was actually the first one with a respectful and kind approach so he kind of made a good impression. The same day, on the 11th July, he added me on Facebook, we started talking often and we got really attached to one another. We both realized we fell in love really quickly, at the end of August we both already knew about each other's feelings and started dating.

Unfortunately he lives around five thousand miles away, in the United States - Missouri. At first I thought this was only a fling. That it will probably end very quickly, but I can say I was wrong. I'm visiting him this summer. For the very first time and we'll get to spend three months together. I'm not really worried about it, none of us is.

Oh and as for our parents. They're both really supporting. My mom is helping me with the money I have to save for the flight ticket, which is going to cost me a fortune, but I'd give anything if only I was able to spend some time with the one I love. We are already thinking about out next steps, we are planning on getting married, because we love each other, not just for the sake of being together. We know it's going to cost us a lot of money and patience, but we are good with it.

In this place, I'd also like to point out how helpful this site is. It clarified some things I haven't known by now and I can't wait for those five months to pass by. I will definitely stay in touch with you, maybe show some pictures when we actually have some.

xx, N.

What a nice post.....I hope your happy with your trip and meeting.

LDR's can be very hard, when together it is less difficult but still has its stressful moments. I hope this works out for you....

I know, it gets really hard from time to time. :( I always cry when I'm writing letters to him, but in general we have so much fun and a lot of nice memories even though everything happens online.

We'll see where time takes us, but for now we're incredibly happy with each other. :luv:

Herrow to you, :)

Your 'written' English is very good. I think it's great that both parents are supporting, that is very important. I wish you the best on your journey.

Hiii!

So I'm here with my first update.

http://www4.slikomat.com/10/0121/phx-blurre.jpg

It looks like an electronic flight ticket. Oh ya, it is!

I bought it today. It cost me 776 euros/1050 dollars but it's totally worth it. It's official now, I'm visiting my boyfriend this summer and we're going to spend few days less than 3 months together. All I care about now is that I don't get rejected on the border! I'm really worried about that, since I've been watching a lot of Zone Reality lately. If someone has any helpful tips about that, I'd be really glad.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, we're practically neighbors.

But I'm currently in the USA to visit my husband. Long distance relationships are hard, and you will have some problems along the way, but it's totally worth it. I was young to when I met my husband (21 and he was 23). It took us almost 4 years to get married, but well... WE're both happy now. I'm sure you will find your luck as well. I totally understand where you're coming from. When I saw my husband the first time, we only spent 3 days together and when I went to the USA to visit him for the first time I was soooooooo nervous and I had a countdown on my computer. And the border controll can suck sometimes. When they asked me why I was coming here I said usually to see family and it was ok. But once I made a big mistake and said to see my boyfriend and they were all over me, asking me questions for 10 minutes. I never said that again.

WEll if you have any concerns of that sort or other things you want to share, feel free to contact!!!

I really like your story!

Bye,

Silvia

Hehe, I almost forgot about this topic, but being home alone reminded me of it so I decided to write something new.

On June 28th I landed in Springfield and finally (after almost a year of waiting) met my boyfriend. Everything is pretty much the same as before, we get along perfectly and as I think of September 22nd, when I'll have to leave the country, I immediately start crying. It's really painful, because I don't really know what to do next. He is most likely going to visit me in my country this winter, but I don't know what's next. I really don't want to wait for so long to be with him and it hurts so bad knowing I will actually have to.

But I'm having a wonderful time here and I can't really let this bring me down.

Oh yeah, totally forgot about telling you about my experience at the border. They put me into custody, asked me a few questions, told me I can't work here (what I already knew of course) and then let me go. I was really scared they will simply send me back home, but they did now. Yay :)

We will see how everything goes. We are both pretty young and not on our own, so there are many problems we can encounter on our journey. For now I'm trying to enjoy the rest of my stay here and then we will talk about what to do next. I am thinking about going to college here so this might be the next step, but I am still not sure about it - money issues.

I wish you the best. When I read your story it reminded me of how it started out with my husband and me. Exactly the same way. As pen pals online to improve our language skills. We got along very well and started dating after I've visited him in the States. One year later we were married and still are 3 years later. Some things are just meant to be.
