Monthly "maintenance" fees, withdraw fees.........Nope. Most certainly not better than Xoom, Western or moneygram.

We opened up an account and just transfer money to it and gave the family an atm card. xoom may be a little cheaper, but it is convienent and easy. Just a short time to tranfer money online and it is able to be pulled out there. Granted, the ATM fees are there, but not too bad. We just get charged the fees that the ATM charges in the PI and 1% international transaction fee.

Zoom is the cheapest and most convenient in PH. Plus you can print out all of your transfers from one site.

I just sent her Nanay a prepaid credit card. The card company waives any fees if you do direct deposit with them and they'll refund your atm fees for a $3 monthly "VIP" membership fee. We've been, and still are, using Xoom but I'm anxious to get started with the new card (should make my budgeting easier).
