AOS, I-485 only needs ONE G-325A, that is from the person adjusting status, and yes new address.

With AOS there is NO petitioner/beneficiary, just an applicant.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Do we update the information on the G-325a (for instance, we're married now, her address has changed), or do we use the same information as when we filed the original petition? Also, do we file a G-325a for each of us, or just the beneficiary?

Thanks,

Steve

Yes you have to update this. You have to treat this G-325a as a brand new one. If she has changed her last name to yours then use that on all the forms as well. That way she will have her new name on the GC. Put in all the new info as it is now!

The beneficiary is the only one who has to file a G-325a

can you tell me what I put in for the file number on the g-325a?...k1-visa from canada - where do i find the number they are requesting?!!

thanks

Jen

If filing I-129F petition, there is no A# until USCIS approves the petition.

If adjusting status, you can locate A# on I-129F Approval notice, just above beneficiary's name.

G-325A is used at two times during K-1 process.

G-325A is used at two times during K-1 process.

The second time is after you marry and apply to adjust status to that of permanent resident. See the guide here.

This is the next step - and a necessary one. A K-1 entrant's status will expire after 90 days. Good luck.

AOS for my husband

5/23/12: Sent out package

Unfortunately Yu&Dan used the wrong term which is why you were confused. The K1 process is completed once you have your K1 visa and you are correct, during the K1 process only 1 G-325A is submitted each.

However, although technically AOS isn't part of the K1 process, some people think of it that way because in order to remain in the US legally a K1 visa holder must adjust their status to legal permanent resident once they have arrived and married their USC petitioner.

During the AOS process you (the immigrant) will submit another G-325A. There is an AOS thread in my signature with the guides and required doc lists etc.

An absolutely necessary step which I'd better know about if I just completed a K-1 visa!! Are there people on here who get through the visa approval and POE and don't know about AOS? I hope not because they're in waaayy over their heads...

I guess that's what confused me! I consider K-1 to be until you enter into the US on a K-1 visa... After that is AOS which is different (in my mind).

Thanks to you both for clarifying!
