For my money you can't beat Vonage. I got it for $24.95 a month with free international land line calls, plus calls to mobile phones are .06 per minute which seems reasonable to me in looking at my total monthly bill. Since I ditched my Verizon land line and the different long-distance service I was using, I'm saying a lot of money.

BTW, I now see Vonage offered for only $14.95 a month.

Yeah Vonage is good and I pay $25.99 + last month cost me $35 I was not too happy so I am waiting to see what will happen this month.

$25.99 International

$0.22 Regulatory, Compliance and Intellectual Property Fee

$1.99 Emergency 911 and Information Services Fee

$1.99 Taxes & Fees

Sales Tax $2.20

Federal Program Fee $1.51

County 911 Fee $1.50

Total Amount $35.40

* $25.99 Vonage World Plan

* Unlimited local and long distance in the US and Puerto Rico

* Free unlimited calls to India, Mexico, Canada, and 60+ other countries*

* Enhanced 411 Directory Assistance included

* 25+ calling features like unlimited Vonage Visual Voicemail®§, Call Waiting and Caller ID included

*

* All calls to landline phones included. Calls to cell phones may be included depending on destination.

Subject to change. Excludes certain call types such as calls to non-geographic and premium numbers.

The $14.99 is only for 3 months and then you pay $25.99 a month and this is calls to landlines and it costs me 22c mobile to Australia. SO for now we will stick with this as we were able to use our existing number from our home but when we move to our house I am seriously changing even though the quality is great but we liked the advantage of being able to keep our home number and to be able to ring our daughters when we want.

Balls - I just sent you a PM, like this minute, in case you didn't come back to the thread. :)

Yep got your message and will look into this and thankyou so much.

These topics make me miss the good ol' days when calling was around .20/minute.

I spent a fortune on calling cards in the beginning before I found Skype. The connection sucked too...half the time it sounded like I was talking to the adults in those old Charlie Brown episodes. Wha wha...wha wha wha wha...wha.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

I always thought the KGB was monitoring our conversations. Nothing like hearing an echo or two, plenty of static and crazy beeps - then getting cut off, repeatedly.

Isn't difficulty with monitoring one of the chief reasons Russia's been flirting with bans of programs like Skype (in addition to wanting to protect their native communications industry)? Based on that, you may very well have been monitored from time to time.

I have no doubt we were monitored - probably by both sides.

We traveled to several different countries and often our calls were routed through third countries in the process. Passport stamps and phone records alone could've put us on the list. But we've never had the bank accounts to match so I think we're good!
