Just another one of those quick questions. I have found information on what to expect for a AOS interview for myself but what to should we expect for my son, (k-2 visa holder). His appointment is before mine and I was just wondering some of things he can expect to be asked.

K2 interview tends to be about checking if paperwork is in order. They are not trying to determine a bonafide relationship as in K1 cases.

Many consulates expect an adult to accompany child to interview.

One more note they may hold approval of K2 AOS until after K1 AOS is approved.

Why consulates? This topic is referring to an AOS interview... USCIS not the consulate is involved

YMMV

thank you! We have our interview one right after the other. And really I would not let him go by himself  . His paperwork is in order, even have pictures.

thank you again, lets keep our fingers crossed that everything goes well.

My wife and step-kids also had interviews scheduled one after the other. My step-daughter was scheduled first, followed by my wife, and then my step-son. They ended up taking us all at the same time. If your case is routine then they'll probably do the same with you. My step-kids are older, so the IO did ask them some questions, but it was all routine stuff - the questions about inadmissibilities, whether they had worked since coming to the US, were they going to school, etc. The IO also asked to see their passports (kept the I-94's) and the original copies of their birth certificates. No relationship questions were asked from the kids, though.

Filling my AOS K1 & K2 today.

I have a few questions.

1. Does the cover page have to be signed?

2. Does the K2 under 14 need an I-130 form (Relative petition?

1) NO (Cover letter is in most cases an inventory of package contents.)

2) NO (K-2 is adjusting status based on K-2 visa)

Thanks,

Because I talk with an representative over the phone and they told me that The I-130 is needed.

I had originally questioned her that it was not needed.

Thanks again

They call that the "Miss-information Line"

I-485K1K2.jpg

I-485 AOS Basis, it says K-2

The operator may be thinking K-4 AOS, in K-3/K-4 cases the K-4 may have not had an I-130 filed for a CR-2/IR-2 visa, AOS requires in this case K-4 to have an I-130 attached.
