me and my bf are filing for a k1 visa, he lives in the US in west virginia, in charleston pretty much. someone told us that our case (k1) would be sent to the USCIS or whatever the name may be for processing in Texas. how can you tell where your papers are going? west virginia is somewhat close to texas so we figured it would be sent there, and the processing times we heard for texas are only 2-3 months then you shold be issued your visa opposed to other places...this is just what we have heard, an immigration office in west virginia told my bf it would probably be sent to texas but we keep hearing different things so we arent sure. does anyone know if this is true? if our papers will go to texas if my bf is filing them from west virgnia and if it only takes 2-3 months in texas to process?

The Service Center in Texas does not review I-129F petitions unless both other service centers are really backlogged. They'll move some petitions there to help out. However, so far, they haven't done that yet.

The place you send your papers in Texas is just a lockbox that will route your packet to either Vermont or California. Your wait will still be 5-6 months just for approval of the I-129F and not including the embassy part of the journey.

If you read the guides on this site, you will find that all K1 petitions are now sent to the Dallas Lockbox in Texas http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD From here the payment will be processed and then your petition will be forwarded on to the correct service center, that being Vermont Service Center for your address in WV.

At the moment Vermont(VSC) are running at the full 5 months and beyond for processing K1 petitions. Enjoy the wait.

By the way.Never use that immigration office that you went to. If they don't know this basic information, which is easily found on USCIS.gov website, then they are sure mess up anything else.
