For personal reason I will not send her to St Marys. She has not done her interview because she has to go to do the first part of the CFO to be able to change her passport to her married name. It's requirement from the wonderful government of the Philippines

I just went to PRISM today. Got there at 9:45am and finished by 1:00pm. Then I went to the CFO office.

Some advice. Do not open a BDO account. For some reason, they will try to sell this to you. It's so stupid.

You will pay 250 upon entrance, and 150 for some crappy hand-outs. And then 400 at the CFO office when you leave.

Bring your passport, photocopy of passport and visa, and they might ask for extra docs (like divorce/death/marriage certificates and even pictures)

They did not request any other document from me.

Over-all not a bad experience but I still found it to be completely unnecessary and ridiculous. It's such a big power trip. There was an arrogant man who conducted the introduction and he told us that even if we have the VISA they are in control of whether we can leave or not, and he was telling people to stop writing or sit properly. I was seriously annoyed.

But anyway, I am so glad its over!!!

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

Some girls were asked for pictures/certificates, I wasn't. Don't ask me why, I think it was just power-tripping for them. :/

The php150 is for the hand-outs that supposedly contain pertinent information. We were obligated to pay it. It's just a bad photocopy of a powerpoint presentation containing information that I think everyone already knows. :/

The BDO bank account was not a requirement but they spent a good 10 minutes brainwashing you into opening a ATM Debit account because "it's easier for you to get an account in the US if they see that you already have one" which is complete BS.

Don't worry about it, it won't be so bad, although it's still a total waste of time and energy.

When you get to the CFO office, it will only take you 15 minutes to get the actual sticker.

Sorry to hear about your experience there but everyone that goes there is subject to it. My wife went through the abuse there at PRISM also. I am not saying everything is just perfect at St Mary's but at least all I read is much better.

Can I ask why? I don't know much about the CFO seminar, and my fiancée was planning on attending the one in Cebu since it's on her island, and because I was under the impression that you had to have your visa prior to the seminar. So, she was just going to attend that when she got back home. Was it a bad experience? Also, is it REALLY mandatory? I never found anything on the embassy website about it. The first I heard about it was on VJ.

Thanks
