Hi, Vjers!

Greetings! My sister and her husband invited me to visit them in Germany. Also, I do miss my sister and I want to see my niece and nephew that I haven't met yet. In short, I have a few questions regarding tourist visa for Germany (Europe). Anyway, my married name appears on every of my valid document, but on my Filipino passport. Am I going to have a problem at the German embassy because my greencard and passport informations do not match (last name)?

Thanks in advance for your input.

The German embassy is going to stamp your passport. They don't care about your Green Card nor about the fact that you listen to loud rock music all night long.

You book your airline ticket in the name on your passport. At the check-in at the US airport, you'll show your passport with the visa in it which shows that you are authorized to enter the EU territory.

In Germany, you show your passport again.

When leaving Germany to fly back to the US, you will show your passport, plus, and only at the check-in airline counter, your GC as proof that you are authorized to enter the US.

When arriving in the US, you'll show your GC and your passport.

Since you have to show your passport and your GC twice, I suggest taking a copy of your marriage certificate with you, just in case somebody tries to be extra smart.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
