US Passports

I know that pretty much everybody reading here already has a US Passport.

But if you have friends or family who are planning international travel soon and still need to get a US passport, I have a little tip for them.

My son just applied for his US passport on Friday, January 7th, and it arrived in the mail yesterday, January 15th! The passport offices must not be very busy right now, so now seems to be a good time to get this necessary task over with.

BTW, current costs are $110 to US State Department, and $25 to the Postmaster (if you bring in photos).

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

You can get a US passport in about 180 minutes. I have an appointment at the Los Angeles Passport Agency on Wilshire Blvd. coming Thursday at 10:00. I'll then have a brunch in Beverly Hills, after which I'll pick it up and drive home.

No extra cost; all that's needed is proof that you'll need it for international travel within a 2-week time frame. In my case that's a letter from my employer stating that I'll need to visit clients in Europe from January 24 'til January 31. Took me 5 minutes to write it and have it signed by my business partner in his capacity as General Manager.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

All this illegal activity coming from you? And you are the same guy that wants Cheney, Bush, and Obama EXECUTED because "they" committed genocide against Iraqi civilians for "power, greed, and profit"?

If you had tried 3 weeks ago I doubt he'd have got it in 7 days.

Everything is seasonal according to US travel habits; in fact

even if Thailand tourism is not necessarily in high season

during the US summer, tickets to Thailand are sky-high even

at that time because US fannies occupy so many airline seats

There's nothing illegal about this at all. The passport agencies were created specifically for this purpose: people who need their passport super fast so that they can travel internationally. That applies to me as well. The fact that I can write those letters myself is a privilege that I have based on my position.

Thanks for this! My husband needs a passport so he can finally visit Australia. We had one US friend who has a passport (that's so depressing really :S) and his took about 3 months, actually I think it was closer to 6... it's his own fault though, he tried to go through a special agency to expedite it... anyway I digress.

Thanks!

Oh good! Hubby just sent in his application last week. Maybe we'll have it next week sometime - not that he has any planned travel.

Of course it's not illegal....but when I got my passport renewal expedited 4 years ago I had to pay something like at extra $90 for the privilege. I'm very surprised they offer that service now for free.

It's $60 now for the expedite through the usual channels; it's unclear from the State Dept website if there is a fee for the in person rush job though. The State Dept website also says you should only use the in person service at the LA Passport Office if you need the passport for foreign travel in two weeks or a foreign visa within 4 weeks. It is also unclear whether Bob is actually going to be travelling within 2 weeks or if this letter is written to give a figleaf of respectability to what is really queue-jumping.

You use English words so wonderfully - words like 'queue' - nobody would guess you were from a dissident continent.

Ok your next task is to incorporate the phrase 'nobbut a lad' in your next post

Queue jumping is common in many countries one encounters after reaching Calais, and will be punishable by waterboarding and then the cucking stool when I have the ban on 'un-natural' borns lifted

Unfortunately one can purchase cucking stool softeners nowadays which is why waterboarding is more common

ps - are babies delivered by caesarian section, 'natural born' ?

I'm actually an MI6 operative. My American accent is great cover.

I endorse your plan for the cucking stool for queue-jumpers. Here's a plan -- since I'm natural-born American, set me up as a puppet leader and you can deploy your policies thusly.star_smile.gif

Never thought of that.

I will buy some puppets and then test your skill as a puppet leader

Your first act as my proxy is to ban guns and your first town hall is in NC wearing an orange jacket so they can see who they are applauding

Taking my new US passport for it's first trip in 10 days - If I can remember where I put it
