I-130 address Question

This is what I read in the Immigrations "General Tips and Guidelines for filling out forms" web site :

The address block on the forms is the data field captured for all of our mailings. Consistent with the limitations on the number of characters per line (a maximum of 32) and the total numbers of lines (4) in that field, whatever is in the block will become the mailing address used by the system. The data in these fields is entered exactly as indicated on the forms.

Is this true because when I try filling out the address using the fillable form on my PC it wont allow me to put the entire address, the "city, state and country line" is to long (36 characters). The problem is the word "Southern Leyte". Can I just put "S. Leyte" which would keep me under the 32 character per line limit or should I leave this line blank and neatly write in "Southern Leyte" after I print out the form, but which would put me over the 32 characters per line limit. Another option I was thinking would be to abbreviate the country. That would also put me under the 32 characters per line limit and allow me to write "Southern Leyte" on the address line. Can I abbreviate the country or is that a big No No.

I just barely got everything to fit in the field given. There is quite a lot of info that needs to be stuffed in the address line. For my case I had her barangay that was 9 letters, followed by her town that was 7 letters, then leyte, then philippines. Don't forget to squeeze in the postal code somewhere too. I don't have the form handy here, but I would recommend that you just use Leyte and not bother with using Southern Leyte. As long as the city or barangay names and the postal code are there you should be ok.

My opinion/thoughts:

What I read on filling out forms is that they recommend abbreviating addresses so as to be able to fit the data. In my case, I didn't have a problem with the address block your talking about. What I think they are saying is that address in those blocks will be used to get their mail to you. To me, if the address I put in there is exceptable by the postal service, it should be no problem, however abbreviated.

In my case, for other addresses, what I do is save the form on my computer. I use a typewriter (Found one on EBAY with changeable font wheels I.e IBM wheelwriter) and filled-in the form using a smaller font size. If an address was still too long (Addresses in Thailand are very long), I put it on an attachment.

Best of Luck!
