Hi All,

I'm a green card holder with a pending citizenship application. I just renewed my passport and found out that someone decided to completely change the spelling of my first, middle and last name! I have to travel to Canada for a business trip. Would it be ok to travel with the new and old passports and other documents that show the old spelling of my name? My old passport, driver's license and green card all have consistent spelling. Will I face any trouble when I fly back to the US?

Please let me know if you had a similar situation or if you know a reference I can read.

The name on your travel documents should match the name on your documents.

Bring all documents, and if you have a copy of the passport application as you submitted it - to show it was the embassy's fault.

Contact the embassy (or wherever you applied for the passport) asap. If THEY arbitrarily changed the spelling of your first, middle, and last name from what it was on previous passport, and without your request or consent, THEY scr..d up and should issue a new one with corrected spelling for your name.
