Timeline

We are planning to go down to the courthouse and sign the legal papers for our marriage ASAP once my FI´s visa is approved and he enters into the US. It is too stressful to plan a real wedding when we do not know for sure if we will even be able to make the date, and since we will have family and friends traveling from all over, we want to give them lots of notice, and not just plan something on the fly once the visa gets approved. Plus, FI does not like the idea of having a big wedding while not employed.

Our "Wedding Wedding" is scheduled for June 9, 2012! Is anyone else doing this? legal ceremony first, religious ceremony and reception at a later date!

We actually made the same decision last week and for pretty much the same reasons.

July 2007 We met in Jamaica, WI (Monetgo Bay) through mutual friends

Wedding date: We will also have a civil ceremony as soon as I arrive which will hopefully be end of March 2011 fingers crossed.

Why that date? because I want to be working and be settled before we celebrate with our family and friends. I also need to file AOS & have EAD asap since I will be starting a job in June!

129-F Send: Oct 2010

Positive that you're going to make that date with these service centers going so slow: If my obsessive calculations amount to anything then YES!

Thank you for such a refreshing thread!

Wedding date: AUGUST 27th 2011

Why that date?: Because it's a year after he proposed me. Although, we got engaged on the 28th, we decided to get married on the 27th. Because it will be on a saturday and our reception will end at 2am. So that's after midnight, on sunday. (L)

In mean time, to keep myself busy, I'm working on the details for our big day. :innocent:

Our wedding will be before the judge within a week or two after her arrival, it will take 3 or 4 days to get the license after filing for it which we will do immediately the 2nd day after she arrives, This will allow her to rest after the ordeal of a long plane flight. But also we will plan for a ceremonial wedding as well. The reason for the quick wedding is so that we can Apply for AOS and SSN numbers ASAP.

Our "Wedding Wedding" is scheduled for June 9, 2012! Is anyone else doing this? legal ceremony first, religious ceremony and reception at a later date!

That is our plan as well: Legal marriage right away when the papers come through (we hope by July!) and a ceremony in Spring 2010. Who wants to plan a wedding while we're living in different countries? Not me.

July 3, 2011 - POE at Pacific Central Station

July 25, 2011 - AOS mailed

August 30, 2011 - RFE (ARRRRGH)

September 26, 2011 - Biometrics appt

Sept 30 - Response to RFE sent in.

November 22, 2011 - Interview @ San Bernardino. Approved! Went down the street and got a passport stamp too, so I can travel for xmas.

NO MORE DEALING WITH IMMIGRATION FOR TWO WHOLE YEARS! AMAZING!

I know I'm not supposed to be setting dates just yet however I really am hoping that I could get married on this date -- my brother will be in the US by then (he had to apply for vacation leave early).

Everything is set already (church, reception, makeup, photog, florist, invites, calligraphy) I really am just waiting for my Visa!

I'll be checking in on the vendors again when I go there next month. :) I also need to have my dress altered.

Awww what a great thread! :)

Wedding Date: ASAP after he gets here for the civil ceremony so we can apply for AOS/EAD etc.; religious ceremony/reception aka real wedding June 2012 in Croatia! We're finding out now whether we'll be able to get married at this beautiful church that I've wanted to get married in since my first time in Croatia. Tomislav sings in a professional choir so we're trying to figure out whether the choir will be able to perform at the church!

Filed: Sept. 2010

9/21/10--I-129F mailed to Dallas

Major change of plans - the wait was too long for us and I ended up moving to Croatia in June 2011.
