Interview Thursday....together Friday

I just wanted to let you guys know because I'm sooooooooooooooooo excited! My fiance has his interview in London on Thursday, then he's flying over on Friday. We haven't seen each other since we got engaged a little over 3 months ago! I know what everyone is going through, but just think of how soon we'll all be with the ones we love!!! We are so grateful for this website, and all of the help it's provided over the last 3 months!

You sure about scheduling the flight that soon after the interview? There is no guarantee you will get the visa in a days time, trust me on this it took ours just shy of two weeks. Hope you do get it and he can get out that soon and you can start your new life together. Ahh never mind think you did a typo there, he has his medical on Thursday not his interview.

I personally dont think it is wise to let him fly over to you before the actual interview - I know most ppl do fly over while waiting but you could get turned down at the airport - please dont risk it tell him to wait till after his interview and he has visa in hand... it wont be too long now:)

I'd like to add my note of caution here too.

It's highly unlikely he will get his Visa in time for a flight to the US on the day following his interview. His passport would normally be couriered to him the day after the interview, at the earliest.

Can you be more specific here about the timeline of his medical and interview?

We have had this ticket booked for so long! He has his medical on Thursday (not his interview...sorry if I put interview)...then he's flying over. He's going to bring plenty of proof along with him! I had asked earlier (before we booked the ticket), and everyone said that it's not against the rules to see each other, and as long as you have proof that he will be returning home afterwords. I guess it is a risk, but it's too late to change it, and I'm too excited!

Ahhh, so it's his medical on Thursday. When I travelled to London almost 2 years ago, the medical and interview were done on the same day. I know that things have changed since then. Does he have an interview date yet?

Anyway, for the trip to the US on Friday, make sure he takes PLENTY of evidence of his ties to the UK, such as ongoing mortgage or rental commitments, details of any other ongoing financial commitments (car loans etc) and also a letter from his employers stating when he is expected back at work.

ahh ok well yes if he has all the proof to his ties back in the UK then I guess you will be fine but it is still a risk. Wishing you the best:) Let us know how he got on:)

Has anyone had any problems getting through immigration while the K-1 is processing? I know it's not against the rules or anything, but everyone says it's a risk. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard anything about anyone being denied entry?

Yes, there have been cases. I personally wouldn't take the chance. Not at this late stage of the game.

Stop worrying would be my advice !!!! Yes it is possible that he could be denied entry but no more likely than on any other trip he has ever made. I was once stopped and given a rough interrogation at POE and eventually allowed in )not pleasant but answered all questions honestly and eventually thye seemed to believe i was just visiting) later in the K-1 process made another visit and was no problem entering whatsoever. Even if he were to be sent back it would have no effect on your K-1 process whatsoever so go for it enjoy your visit and soon it twill all be over

I personally think you should have travelled to the UK, rather than the other way around. But make sure he has all his documentation including a letter from his job stating which day they expect him back, mortgage statements, bank statements, etc. Also, I would bring copies of his K-1- including information regarding having his medical. The interview usually comes shortly after the medical (it did for us and I know a lot of others- it was within weeks) and I don't think they would normally expect someone to illegally immigrate when they are in that late stage of a K-1 visa. Just be prepared and have a great visit!

I personally would also have left it, it cannot be too long now before his interview but what is done is done and if they let him through, have a great time, if they don't, learn from it
