Oh gosh--if people can find shortcuts, let's encourage them instead of being grouchy old men (and women). Small minded and mean spirited comes to mind, so maybe being open hearted, inclusive, and optimistic are easier ways to live--at least it works for me. dunright--go for it and best of luck--maybe it works and maybe not, but assuming failure sure isn't a very good way to live--and I'm glad to see you aren't going down that path.

By the way, my wife is living in Costa Rica until we get through this--maybe we can meet sometime--I am back in CR the first week of March. Yes, I know my profile says she is Mexican--she is, but lives near San Jose.

Couldn't hurt to try thats for sure and if anyone could choose for an expidite they would choose it in a heartbeat unfortunately not everyone can get that option and might feel a little annoyed that other's do, but this isn't an equal opprotunity process, anyone going/or have gone through it knows that by now.

You don't need any of our approval to try so best of luck on whatever you decide to do

It is not a free shortcut, it is pushing ahead of thousands of other people who will have to wait even longer because someone for some reason thinks that their reason to be together is more important than another couple's (IMO, some are and some aren't).

I understand this sentiment. The OP is a U.S. citizen, his wife is Filipina, but they are living in Costa Rica and he owns a house in the U.S. It sounds like the OP made some choices and now because things aren't working out in the homefront he wants preferential treatment?

Incorrect.

'someone' if its valid, will be the USCIS who approve the expedite request. No-one else has the right in my opinion to judge on whether one qualifies for that processing. Only the USCIS, thankfully, makes that decision.

'Pushing ahead', bit of a strange way of looking at it, but at the end of the day, its every individual for themselves. Why take into consideration other petitions?

If the USCIS think it warranted, then they will grant it. If the USCIS think it NOT warranted, then they will deny. Every person has a right to fight for his life and family. Good on him I say, and he should apply.

Thanks to all that have voiced their opinions. I am not new to message boards (well maybe this one), so i expected some negativity. I truly appreciate all the positive vibes. It was not my intention to stir things up. I know one thing...if anyone that is waiting (or waited) on their visa had a legit chance to be with their loved one, even one day sooner.....every single person here would do it.

My situation was brought on by circumstances out of my control and by complete surprise. I did not feel it pertinent to write a novel to explain the "whole story". I got the answers i was looking for and and was reminded of how great my life is and how happy i choose to be. We all have our burdens, it doesn't make any of us a lesser human being. I am blessed to look towards the positive and gravitate to those that send out the same. Maybe we should kill this thread before someone creates an aneurysm for themselves. Peace and blessings to all.....at least for now.
