So i have to put everything together for the interview. I was in the phils 2 months ago and dropped my entire packet with my SO. But as far as some of the other things that she needs, like an updated intent to marry letter and the I134, can i scan and email them to her? or should i snail mail it?

Also, for the I134 the supporting evidence section says that i need a statement from a bank officer, can i just include my bank statment? or should i get them to write me up a letter?

And the supporting evidence says include my last years income tax return if I am self employed, i am not so should i include it? and last one, how many years ?

Thanks in advance

All signatures MUST be real signatures. No copies are accepted.

All the I-134 and supporting evidence should be done and sent before the interview as close as possible. If not they will request a new set of papers.

The above advice is very good. However, it can be hairy to send things TOO close to the interview (such as to arrive just a couple of days before) -- too many things could go wrong. Use DHL or the most reliable international delivery service rather than snail-mail, so that you have tracking capabilities.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

any documents that require your signature should be originals, no copies or scans. you should probably use some some sort of reliable mail service (FedEx, DHL) that allows tracking, so you can make sure your package arrives at its destination. It is more expensive, but you have the piece of mind that the mail will make it there and is delivered on time.

Also, for the I134 the supporting evidence section says that i need a statement from a bank officer, can i just include my bank statment? or should i get them to write me up a letter?

Most recent bank statements should be sufficient to prove liquid assets.

And the supporting evidence says include my last years income tax return if I am self employed, i am not so should i include it? and last one, how many years ?

I would include the last 2 years tax returns (transcripts directly from the IRS are even better) and being as it is close to tax time, I would maybe have my income tax done a little early and include a copy of this year's filing as well.

Use a private courier. The public mail service in most S.E. Asian and Pacific countries is unreliable. Scanned copies should never be used for any document that will be signed by you or your fiancee. Always send the original, but keep copies for yourself.

Ignore the instructions for the I-134. Those instructions were originally written by USCIS, and USCIS doesn't even use that form anymore. The form is little more than a summary of your financial information. Provide the evidence that the consulate requests. In most cases, this will be a copy of the most recent tax return and evidence of current employment, such as a letter from your employer and/or pay stubs. You don't need to provide bank statements unless you're claiming assets (cash in the bank) to help you qualify as a sponsor. If your income alone is enough to qualify then you shouldn't bother claiming any assets.

My fiance will be using FeDex just to make sure I get all those documents. Especially the contents are original copies.

He have the following:

*I-134- (does it need to be notarized? some people suggested for that form to be notarized)

*Employment Letter

*W2's from 2005-2009 ( is that okay? or he needs to get the 2010 too? I bet)

*Pay stubs

*1040 forms or the Income Tax from 2005-2009( he still have to request for the 2010 ones)

*Bank Statement (dated Nov.5,2010, or does he really need a MOST RECENT ONE like December 2010 or JANUARY 2011? ) It might not be needed but since it's easy to get He just want to add it and a Life Insurance letter too ...

Are those good already? :unsure::)

Thanks! :star:

I just want to add that if your income alone is clearly sufficient, just leave all asset related questions blank. That way, not bank statement or bank letter is needed. At least one complete tax return or tax return transcript is a best practice. Some would recommend three.

This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

The current I-134 does not need to be notarized. The old I-134 needed to be notarized. Check to see if you are using the current I-134.

*Employment Letter

*W2's from 2005-2009 ( is that okay? or he needs to get the 2010 too? I bet)

At the most, you need only three years worth of income tax returns and W-2s.

*Pay stubs

You need current pay stubs. I submitted pay stubs for the current six months.

*1040 forms or the Income Tax from 2005-2009( he still have to request for the 2010 ones)

Three years of income tax returns are enough. You really don't need five years of income tax returns.

*Bank Statement (dated Nov.5,2010, or does he really need a MOST RECENT ONE like December 2010 or JANUARY 2011? ) It might not be needed but since it's easy to get He just want to add it and a Life Insurance letter too ...

It would be better to have a more current bank statement. However, bank statements are not really necessary if the petitioner's income qualifies.

Are those good already? :unsure::)

Thanks! :star:
