Swearing in Ceremony

My husband, myself and 2 adult daughters took our citizienship test in Dallas on the 3rd of August. We were told that they didn't have a date for us to swear in available at that time, but we would be contacted. My friend took her citizenship test on Friday and was given a date in September for her test. Should we try and contact them about our scheduled date or wait to hear from them? Anyone else been in this situation?

It has happened to others---you can kind of fall out of the queue. there is no harm in following up, but you will have to do it at the local level ie, go in person with an InfoPass appointment. The 1-800# will not be able to help you.

There are usually just a couple of oaths scheduled per month so shake them up--maybe you can be in the same ceremony with your friend!

I would definitiely recommend scheduling an Infopass appointment - I had my interview and then didn't hear anything for almost 60 days. I scheduled an appointment, and 2 days later my oath letter went out! I don't know if there was any connection, but it's totally possible that a flag went up on my file and the officer who had it was reminded of it. Anyway, you can't lose anything by trying.

so if i take a infopass appt and talk to the local office ppl, where my intrv took place, is there any chance that they would hand my oath ceremony letter in hand ??

They may not hand you the letter, but would be able to tell you when the next available oath ceremony will be.

Each office has its own policies about oath ceremonies--you just have to ask at your own office.

i asked for that..they still say that they cant promise "go home n wait for our oath ceremony letter" - thats what they said on my face..

am now dead , promised my wife that i would be a ctz by sept n file her k3 asap..n now have to wait untill dec..

Sorry to say....A lot of people from the Middle East and Asia are waiting for years to become a citizens. I have a friend now that has been waiting a little over a year.

yea, heard stories from other forums regds citizenship n N400 forms..but my fingerprints and interview were done without any probs, just getting my oath letter seems a bit long, if not for my K3 visa, wouldnt have bothered much

I don't think it would hurt to contact both congressman and senator.

My friend passed his citizenship exam in June 2005 and he is now waiting for the oath letter. He contacted both the senator and congressman and was told that his application/fingerprints are under a background check review. Both representatives said that their was nothing they could do and advised him to wait. He has since filed a civil rights complaint with the ACLU and CAIR. I pray you do not have to go this route.

I can't say without knowing what you were told at your District Office. Are you not in the next ceremony because your name checks aren't yet back? They have a backlog? There's a hundred reasons I could guess at.

Don't bother your electeds unless you've done the legwork on your end first.

no, its not due to my name checks or background checks, everything is perfect with no remarks.. jus no space for a oath ceremony!!
