I really wonder what's holding the service centers up these days. My NOA2 was approved a little over two months... Not a long wait at all. This may sound weird but sometimes I wish I could give you my NOA2 :P It's of no use to me, anyway!

December 2009 -- Visit to Malaysia.

February 2010 -- Applied for B2 visa, approved.

March 2010 -- Visited US.

April 2010 -- Returned from US.

May 2010 -- Sent in K1 Visa application.

July 2010 -- Received NOA2 in 71 days from NOA1.

July 2010 -- Packet 3 received.

August 2010 -- Cancellation of K1 Visa application.

If you are as frustrated as I am go to the website of your member of Congress and send them a letter similar to what I sent today. Feel free to cut and paste mine and use it as a template if you'd like - totally up to you. Obviously you should personalize it to your situation. This last election should have taught us all that we need to voice our concerns if we expect any action.

Go to house.gov - enter your zip code in the top left corner if you aren't sure who your representative is. Their website should have a contact page. Go to Senate.gov and search for them by going to your state in the menu.

Immigration Reform

I support comprehensive immigration reform. Our failure to secure the border and the number of illegal immigrants in our country is absolutely ridiculous!

I am currently involved in helping my fiancée navigate the immigration process legally! One vital part of immigration reform needs to be drastic improvement in customer service at USCIS!

I applied for a fiancée visa last year in July! We're closing in on six months waiting for approval and getting more frustrated by the day! The purported 5 month wait for 15 minutes of work is ridiculous in itself but the absolutely unacceptable part is the "customer service!" If we want immigration reform Congress really needs to grill this agency for their ridiculous service and demand improvement! It is not at all unreasonable to expect an agency of the US government to approve applications in order and give you adequate notice if they are running behind and a good estimate of how much the delay will be. But instead they are approved in a random order and cannot give you any real indication of when to expect action, even after they are running behind schedule. Seeing applications approved which were submitted after yours being approved before yours is very frustrating. Telling you to call back in 30 days after you have already waited more than 5 months for them to do 15 minutes of work is ridiculous and absolutely unacceptable!

I, and my lawyer fiancée, worked hard to complete the application and get everything right. We have waited. I have asked your office for help with my specific case. Your inquiry has yet to produce any real action. While I am most concerned with my own application real improvement is needed in the management of USCIS!

Thank you for your attention to my concerns!

5 months 2 weeks and 2 days ...nothing from VSC except lame excuses...It is a good thing I love my fiancee and know in the end we will be together. I used to think the postal service was bad, Now I know the worst Government agency ever to deal with, the postal service is a model of efficiency compared to the USCIS. Maybe soon I will hear something. It could be any day now

It's been 4 months for us now, which I understand is under the "national goal" but I still find it completely ridiculous. If it's lack of personnel, hire more people!! We all know there are people out there who need jobs.. But that could very well just turn into even more people sitting at uscis not doing their job and driving us all crazy.

But really, don't they realize what we are waiting for? The most frustrating part is it's not over after this, there's more and more waiting. At least we have the VJ wesite to vent our valid complaints.

The USCIS says that it should take up to 5 months to get the NOA2. What´s your experience? What has your waiting time for the NOA2 been? We received our NOA1 three months ago.

The USCIS really put our love to a test!!!

Good luck to everybody!

It will be 5 months in February, I know that isn't much of a long wait compared to the others. These past four months, I didn't think about the wait at all, but now it seems to be all I think about since the 5 month mark is coming up, and I'm checking USCIS at least twice a day. Even an RFE would make me happy, which is funny since I was so upset in the beginning when I realized I forgot I needed a copy of the back of my birth certificate and was so worried about getting an RFE, now it would make me happy that they even just looked at my petition!

We'll hit 5 months at the end of January. Starting to worry about rescheduling our May wedding. :(

What's really annoying is we scheduled a meeting at our local branch and asked very specifically when we should file if we want to marry in May. They said OCTOBER. Good thing we didn't listen to them, or we'd really be screwed.

you wanted from this life, even so?

I did.

Five month wait in average is just unacceptable.

If you think about it: It is just a non-immigration visa, and it is only good for 90 days of stay. It is not a green card. It merely allows one to come to the USA to get married.

So why it takes 5 month (8 month if you count the consular processing time) for the government to grant a alien just a 90 days of stay?
