We mailed in our application over the weekend and received nothing from them until today we got our application returned with an explaination that we don't meet the residency requirements. Except we do.

I'm happy to blame us though my husband had a long rant that it's their fault for not looking at the documents carefully.

Basically, his ID card which was issued in July 09 got lost last year. We have a police report confirming this. His reissued ID card is dated Sept 2010. With our being super eager to get the application in the mail we didn't even think about it. Honestly, we're not sure why the UKBA didn't put the original date on the new card but that's neither here nor there. Anyway, we did include a copy of his marriage visa dated Jan 2009 which would show when he first entered and he has been here ever since.

Thankfully we have a copy of the report he made to the police that it was lost and because he had to apply for jobs we also have a scanned image of his old ID card on my computer. So, I'm gonna print it out, write a letter explaining the situation and then get it all out in the mail again. Second time lucky.

ya, a cover letter in 20 point type should be noticed, if the evidence is inside the baggie and stapled to this letter.

I hate non-readers. Really.. (no no , not you and yers, but the Employees that bounced it back to you)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Well, I'm going to explain it nice and clear and hopefully they'll understand the situation. Surely it can't be the first time that an ID card was reissued due to loss or theft and it does clearly state his entry date in his passport. Hoping that it goes smoothly from here on out
