i have been married 8 months, that was the last time i saw my husband.I had a Consultation with a lawyer because i wanted to know if i was on the right road(track),i was advice by the lawyer that my husband need to come and visit me at least 2 times before my interview and if it is possible he should accompany me to the interview. i was told that my visa could denied because of the small about of visits,it send off a red flag that we are doing a business wedding.

Has anyone here been through this?

what was your result?

should i follow the lawyer advice?

I have only visited my wife once since we were married back in April,2010. I did not visit her to meet a visit quota. I went to see her because I missed her dearly. Visits are not required but it can't hurt. Making contact via phone, magic jack, email, sending money or any type of correspondence should be fine. That is what I am counting on.

This will vary widely from one consulate to another, but the lawyer might be right. At some consulates it can make a huge difference. In most cases, it would have been more helpful if the extra visits were made before the marriage and before sending in the petition, but there isn't much you can do about that now.

How many times has your husband visited you, and how long was each visit?

I will agree with Jim – this would vary from country to country, and consulate to consulate.

Countries where there are lot of fraud wedding just for the purpose of immigration, this could be an issue and applicant will have to provide a significant proof that marriage was in good faith. Countries where immigration fraud are not that bad, applicant would not have to provide any such proof.

So to answer Op’ question, your lawyer could be right.

Kaydene, I

can tell you without a doubt that Kingston will be looking at your visit pattern. They will request to see the petitioner passport to validate if the couple is participating in a real marriage. If you'll have a valid reason as to why you'll did not visit each other, then this will need to be explained at the interview.

i agree that is what married couples do - they will visit to fill that gap. Skype, email all that just carries you over but isnt major. based on your timeline you were just approved on Jan. 4, 2011 so go make a trip for Valentines... better yet tell him to come see you sorry. IF there's any doubt at the interview then they will simply asked to see/interview him and that would be his third trip.
