Can somebody confirm this

Greetings all, my fiancee recieved her intructional package a couple of weeks ago. We're currently gathering up the neccessary paperwork for the interview. My question is regaring the Affidavit of support, the package specified that I will need to fill out the form I-864 but members on here are telling me the I-134 is what I will need instead, so which one is it exactly or should I be safe and fill both out?. Can those who have one through this process recently chime in? Thank you!

Quite often the Immigrant visa unit sends out the packet with the IR-1/CR-1 instruction sheet, document requirements are the same except for the Affidavit of support.

K-Visas use I-134 at all consulates.

Here is what DOS has to say: "Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)" http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html

For a K1 the HCMC consulate requires an I134 and as said ..they can send the wrong paperwork out from time to time... I864 is for married couples in this type of immigration and is also used for AOS filing after she arrives here and you get married..

Scott and Dan are right. They do give out wrong information sometimes. When Tuyen had her interview after our rebuttal (CR1) they told us that a I134 would be required. She handed it in and we were then given a green slip for an updated I864.

If you're still worried, just do both.

I do not mean to hijack this thread but I am filling out the I-134 for my K1 Visa now. I have a letter from the banks with my account information as well as a letter from my employer that states my salary for the last two years of my employment and shows that I have been employed for the last 7 years. I have seen on this site where people are also putting their tax returns for the last three years. Do I need to do that to be safe? The form is not asking for it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

It depends on the country and since this is the VN regional, PI specifc info is not something I am familiar with.. Many say to use tax transcripts and the number of years back range from 1 to 3... I sent the last 3 years as why cut corners when the info is free from the IRS and a phone call away... The consulate just wants to see the steady income..

You only need a bank letter if using the acount as an asset.

In my case my income was well above, so did not use any asset information.

Attached to I-134 were (Past 3 years IRS transcripts, Letter from employer, and copies of past 6 months pay stubs.)

I am a K1 filer and my Fiancee in Vietnam also received the Packet 3 Instructions for IV rather than K which states she needs an I-864. I called the NVC and confirmed she needs I-134 if it is a K1 Visa. I also was in HCMC last week and we went to the information window with our Case number and confirmed that we need an I-134 since it is a K1 filing. The girl at the window apologized for the error.

Occasionally, they do! The primary reason the consulate in HCMC is so difficult is because of the amount of fraud. The level of difficulty is intended to try to weed out the scammers. They don't always succeed.

They have been known to issue a visa and later call and say dont bother using it, we chaged the decision.. case being sent back to US
