Wow we email everyday! With these new phones you can email to eachother like it is texting and we even talk on the phone everyday (calling from skype to her cellphone).

We met in August 2009 and spent 10 days together, then we were apart for 190 days until Mar 7, 2010 to Mar 21, 2010, then another 145 days apart until Aug 13 to Aug 27, 2010. Those were the longest periods apart so far, I visited him two weeks later in the U.S. for 6 weeks from Sep 12 to Oct 24, 2010 and again 53 days later from Dec 16, 2010 to Jan 9, 2011. We initally thought we'd be separated from this time until September 2011, ugh, but he told me in December he'll come to Germany for another 2 weeks in March...in 58 days then  But after that it'll be a long wait of almost 6 months until September  That's when I'm hoping to fly to the U.S. visa in hand...I'm considering a spontaneous short visit end of May/beginning of June after turning in my Bachelor thesis but I'm kinda afraid to fly during the K-1 process...

Oh yeah, we talk multiple times every day via email or iPhone chat, and talk every Tuesday and Sunday on the phone or Skype, usually anything between 4 to 9 hours  but it doesn't make me miss him any less...

I recently returned to the US after spending 10 days (including New Year celebrations) with my beloved fiance. Before this visit, it had been 4.5 months since I had last seen him. It nearly killed me! I was quite anxious, depressed, and missed him very, very much. Now, I do not know when I will see him next. I am planning on being with him for his consulate interview, but considering that we have not received NOA2 yet (after nearly 5 months), I am not sure when out interview date will be. I am hoping that the interview will be in 3-4 months from now. I am dreaming of a Summer wedding by the Lake Michigan shore...

Best wishes and patience to all of us. Love endures all!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

I left Turkey in Sept 2010, the end of Oct he left for USAF Base Iraq...

We had a 30 day security clearance and that means no communications until the military gave him permission. Civie Contractors do not get same priviledges as our Soldiers--- no internet, no postal service in Iraq in general, no going outside base at all (to use internet cafe). Now, we get to talk on the fone and not daily, but when the signal is good; sometimes a good day is when our calls last for 15-20 mins. He his contract will finish in Feb 2011, and he can go back to Adana/ Incirlik. Then, we can resume a normal 'life' for those that are physically apart! Skype and internet, unlimited calling time, and POSTAL SERVICE! Thank God!

I would love to get over there this spring, but I'm thinking the next time we get to be together will be when he come here POE. Could be 8-10 mos total... who knows.

We went through K1 visa process in 2007. My then fiance tried to come every 4 months...That was hard. On the last visit- we went to the interview together at the Dublin Embassy and celebrated the Visa. That is when we conceived our beautiful son (who just turned 2 in November!).

my thoughts to you are- hang in there, enjoy your friends and family because- chances are that when you are here (USA) already- you will miss them all!!!!!!!!!!!

Please email me if you want to "talk". I have been there and wish I enjoyed my friends more back then...

I spent at least part of almost every day with my (then boyfriend, now) husband from the time we met in January 2007 until January 2008. Then I was evacuated from Peace Corps and didn't get to see him again until May 2009. 17 months! It SUCKED. I saw him for 2 weeks in May 09, then again in January 2010 for his interview for 10 days until he finally moved here in February 2010. I feel your pain. Just keep pushing forward - soon she'll be here and you'll have the rest of your lives together :)

(L) It's been 10 months to the date since i have seen my honey. It's been hard but time has flown. We talk to eachother 5-6 times a day so it seems as if we are together everyday. Though there are also the extremely hard days that you wish they were her so you could put your arms armound them and give them a kiss knowing you can't and just about loose it. :crying:

Honestly I wouldn't make any set wedding dates until you have visa in hand you never know what issues may arise and if you will be put in administrative processing. It would be a very expensive lesson to learn. :o

We met on June 15, 2008 and the longest time we were apart was 7 1/2 months (July 2008 - mid-February 2009). It was hell, but it made us realize just how strong our love was. After Febr 2009, the longest we had to be apart was 4 months; after that, separations got shorter (60-70 days) and now we are happily married and we'll never have to say goodbye again in airports! It's tough, but if you guys really can't travel back and forth in the next 6 months, I am sure you can make it! Wishing you a speedy approval!

Thanks everyone for your comments. Knowing that I'm a September 2010 filer, is it realistic for us to plan a wedding for August 6th 2011??

I'm not sure what the rule is for other Countries but you can visit your fiance in the US while your K1 is being processed. All you have to have is proof that you will be returning to your country. All you need is a letter from your employer that you will be back, pay stubs from pay cheques, and/or a lease agreement from your landlord, and/or mortgage, and/or bank statement, and/or utility bill, and/or etc. They just want to make sure we are in fact visiting and will not be trying to stay ilegally. I have a cousin who went through this and she had no problems going to the US while her application was being processed. Just take proof that you have ties in your home country still.

If your fiancée happens to be Philippina the chances of coming here during the K1 process are SLIM and NONE. Even though my fiancée has lived in Japan for many years it doesn't matter - she is a Philippine national. It is not fair or logical or rational.

I last saw my girl in July of 2010 for only two weeks and with current processing times it looks like I won't see her again until at least August of 2011. Those were a wonderful two weeks though and I find myself constantly revisiting pictures and memories and talking about all of the funny things that happened when I met her family. It is very rough having to wait so long, not enjoyable at all, but it must be a true test of love and endurance of our relationship! As tough as it is, we are completely committed to spending our lives together as we have been for the past few years and I have faith in our love. We all have to be strong in this!

I haven't seen my fiancee for two months now, but it also doesn't help just do to expense, I probably won't be able to fly down until the interview. I know for us the uncertainty is the hardest part. However, one thing that has helped us is we talk every day, sometimes twice and send many emails. Also, we've made many contingency plans. Now before other people jump on me for this, the biggest reason is just to regain some sense of control in life, but plans such as, okay, if by some miracle VSC returns to processing times of a year ago, we'll do this. If there's a year wait, we'll do this and this. If I get laid of and/or the visa gets rejected we'll do this. If our daughter doesn't get permission, so forth. And hey, why not move to Trujillo!? ;)

The biggest thing is just to get some idea of control and normally. One of our favourite things for example is our family to watch a youtube movie on yahoo and eat pizza together. Another is singing and dancing. To be honest, the situation really sucks. Expect fights and expect arguments. Before we both left in Lima, I said, Listen, this is going to be very hard and we're going to go through one of the hardest times, however, if we'll always be there. If we can't do it now, how can we do it in our marriage. Thus, I know one thing that works is making a schedule, find ways to do normal things together (like I mentioned), never go to sleep on an argument, remind the person (and yourself) daily of the feel of their hand against yours, and remember each day longer is one day that has passed.

Anyways, it's going to be hard, but and it is hard and I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, but I hope it helps.

--------------------------------------------

Finally, I'll put this down here as I know many people are not religious and I particularly do not like being evangelised to, but find some way to just relax. We are both Catholic and during my lunch break every day I call her and we say a short two minute prayer entrusting everything to the Holy Family. Also, in the evening we say the Rosary together. I know for us, it really has made a difference and taken the edge off.
