Hello all. I have been reading what many of you have said for the past year and now I need some advice. My wife had her interview towards the end of 2009, after which she was given a letter asking for additional information. All the information they requested was given to them with in a month, but she was told they need to do additional processing. Then in mid- November of 2010 a letter was sent to her home saying to update the Medical, Police report and I-864's. She updated all of those and brought it to the Embassy on December 23,2010 only to be given another letter stating she has to be interviewed again because it's been more than 1 year since her interview. Also, when they gave her the letter in December, they also returned all pictures and hand written letters she gave to them when she had her interview in 2009.

Today, she received a letter stating she will have her interview January 27, 2011, with a link to a website talking about the requirements for the interview. They want many things that were given the first time she was interviewed, like copies and originals of birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc. They also say about proof of the relationship, like pictures, letters, etc.

Should she bring all the pictures and letters to the interview again, after she was given all of those back to her? And what about all the documents? I would think they kept all of those in her file. Anyone else had the same experience? Thanks.

Take them as I believe in better safe than sorry. Her new interview will probably be a formality as the visa application is only valid for one year. Same thing happened to my hubby as he was in AP for so long. The second interview just verified the medical and such were up to date, he signed his new application, and received his visa a few days later.

A new interview means that NEW INTERVIEW. If they decide to take it as a new interview, or if a different CO interviews her this time they WILL want to see ALL the same things. I dont care if it was a third, or fourth interview, bring everything in again, and let them have it all over again. Think of it like this.....

This is your life, would you play russian roulette with it??? You have waited over a year, and you would rather leave things at home and risk waiting another 30 days, or a year to get the Vsa????

Do you see my point here? To me this is a no brainer question, and I would always say to bring all your things back to the second interview. She might just haul them in there and there might be a pink waiting, who knows, but I would rather haul those things around one more time than have to go home, bring them back, and wait until THEY feel they have time to look at them.

AP for a year. I'm sorry to hear that. can't say i've been through what your going through. My wife's interview is Jan 26,2011. From what I've read since I've been a member here,is if HCMC ask for the Documents bring them. Don't give them any reason to delay you and your wife from being together any further.

Best of luck on the 2nd interview

is there anything preventing her from taking the requested info to them? They likely have not lost the documents sent before... but as they noted, after a year has passed, they must do a new interview and they ask for everthing just like it was a new interview... The fact that you were in AP for so long, and they sent the request for the updated docs is a great sign (could have just as well been a denial letter they sent).. you are near the end of this portion of the journey as the next interview could just be a formality... dont take it lightly as things could change... have her load up the box of goodies from before and take the whole thing back in just like it were the first interview all over again.. only this time she knows what to expect better than before.

This is specifically why many here say to get numerous copies of any important documents when you get them... one never knows when another one may be requested or required...

This is almost exactly what happened to me. After 6 months to a year in AP, some of the stuffs like Medical, Police Certificate, and Interview expired. One thing expired after the others which make you feel like you are going around and around. If your Medical needs the TB test then that cut down only 3 months, since there is approx. 3 months wait for the TB results to come back.

In my case, I brought back all the interview files for her 2nd interview. I thought we were done with it so I took it all back to the States. It was 25lbs less of clothes and gifts that I needed to bring back on my last trip :) We went over lots of questions, old and new...they only had 1 question for Hang at the interview. The pink sheet was already filled out.

The links they gave you in the 1-page interview appt letter are just generic. They will send you an email or another letter telling you won't need all of these docs.

Please the attachment, the red items on my doc list are only the docs we need for the 2nd interview. No additional visa fee.

Hope this much help for you...

Nargh, come in there with this attitude "Haven't you all ever heard of "Copy machine"? I gave your office all those documents last year. It's YOUR job to dig up those evidences. My relationship is bonafide and I've been waiting long enough."

If they gave you attitude, bring in your USC!!!!! Tell them you have the Constitution to protect ya!

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!
