I got an email that my wife's EAD was approved on Jan 5th, 2011. On the USCIS.gov website it says:

Card/ Document Production

On January 5, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

My question is this:

Does this mean the card has actually been mailed out? It's now Jan 12th, 2011 and we still haven't gotten it. Looking over other's timelines, many get it within 3-5 days. Furthuremore, we got her AP documents and all the NOA letters within 4-5 days of approval.

I am starting to get a little worried. helpsmilie.gif

It's normal. It has not been mailed out yet. When it gets mailed out, it will say "We have sent you an approval notice..." You will probably get the physical card within 2 weeks of your getting the first email. The AP comes sooner because it's just a paper; the EAD is an actual card that has to be produced.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Harpa's right. Give it at least two weeks. My wife got hers nine days after the email.

Even if it doesn't come in the two weeks that Harpa suggests, you have to give it at least 30 days (as the email says) before you should worry at all.

That said, you'll most likely get it within two weeks from the email.

Good luck!

If you get another card production email, don't panic or worry.

They probably meant to say your card was mailed out!

Talking from experience B-)

From what I was told, they should send you another email to notify you your card was mailed out.

..and from more experiences: I noticed that my online case status went back one step - from "card production" to "post decision activity" once they did actually sent out the card and has been like that ever since even with my card in hand. It may throw you off, but no need to panic when you see the status change like that, it's good news in fact :)

Congrats on the approval!!
