Just curious how you go about this getting the stamp at your POE. That would be cool to get that. Or maybe the stamp doesn't mean much ?

16/10/2006- Interview date- I'm nervous and my fiance is cool calm and collective. And she's the one that has to do the interview.

The only POE that seems to be doing the temp EAD is JFK, you dont have to do anything to get it just ask if they dont do it automatic...

The temp EAD is only good for 90 days from the date you enter the States and you will need to get your SSN and that can take 2 weeks or more... once you have that you can work.... but if you have not received the 1 year EAD that you file for with your AOS by the end of your temp EAD(90 days) you will have to give up your job and wait until your have your 1 year EAD before you can take another job....

The average time to get the 1 year EAD is between 70 - 90 days from the reciept date of the EAD forms....

Hope this helps

Kezzie

It is worth it as long as you know you may have to stop work at the end of the 90 days......

Thanks for the info. Truly helpful. I'm thinking the POE might be at JFK (direct flights from Moscow). So I'll check that out. Thanks again.

My fiance will fly into jfk and we will ask for the work stamp. I know it's alot of controversy about the poe/ead however, if he can work for a few weeks until he gets the 1 yr auth, it's worth it for us. We need the money really, really, bad!! Been doing this process for a few years.

i think even if it's for a short while, having my SO work will not only bring in money, but also it will keep him busy which i think could really help him psychologically adjust to a new environment. here's hoping we find something! ....

Remember you will need to wait about two weeks to apply for his SSN, and then about a week to get the SSC in the mail. Do you already have a job lined up for him once he gets here?
