Hi Guys

When you guys file your N-400.....what do you give them as a form of proof of tax documents "tax returns" or Tax transcripts? cas we have never ever got a tax transcript before now only tax return

reason why i ask is that the wife got tax returns forms 1040 , 1040A and form 8879 shows that we filed taxes, is this what the immigration wants? "Tax Transcripts" and not Tax return e file ####### i have in hand right now in the form of 1040s which shows all our details anyway.

i thought this is what the uscis wanted but not the case it seems...

have you guys ever sent in 1040s tax return documents and they been ok with that or what?

Ive called up the IRS today and there going to send me "Tax Transcripts" from 06 onwards just in case the uscis ask for 06 taxes also..but got to wait now it seems before i mail off this N-400 package...well peed at this..

This is the info i dug up..

A tax return transcript shows most line items from your tax return (Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ) as it was originally filed, including any accompanying forms and schedules. It does not reflect any changes you, your representative or the IRS made after the return was filed. In many cases, a return transcript will meet the requirements of lending institutions such as those offering mortgages and for applying for student loans.

A tax account transcript shows any later adjustments either you or the IRS made after the tax return was filed. This transcript shows basic data, including marital status, type of return filed, adjusted gross income and taxable income.

Enclose tax transcripts for the years you've been a LPR with your N-400 application. It's so much less painful than enclosing the actual 1040s. Most of us have done that. They're just a bunch of weird numbers on 1 or 2 pages that nobody really looks at.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Yep i spoke with the IRS Today and i told them what i need the Tax transcripts for immigration matters.

she said ok i will send them out in the post asap. Free of charge...im waiting for the catch TBH.

But never really thought until afterwards i could goto the local IRS office and speak to uncle sam directly to get my transcripts, so ill do that in the morning now and when the others come in the post ill have copies ready for interveiw day, if need be.

I did want to ask on a side note... this usc civics test have they updated it lately? as i want to make sure im reading the same civic test for 2010/2011.

Thanks Guys...

I didn't know about tax transcripts until after we sent in our application and even the interview. Ironically, we got by on the I-751 where I just overlapped our 1040 tax returns showing the date and the IRS label with both our names on it. Would think that is all they need to know. Wife's interviewer wanted to see our complete returns and wife said she paged through page by page, got a bit upset when I heard that, that is none of her damned business, but she did the same with our bank accounts and CD certificates. The fact that just the heading with both our names on it, is all she needs to know. And that we could scrapped together that $675.00 fee.

She insisted on keeping our original tax returns, and my wife let her do that. Wish I heard about tax transcripts, just call that 800 number and order them, also would have saved a lot in postage costs.

I used them for removal of conditions, I had access to a FAX machine (Computer FAX Modem), and they faxed them to my computer same day, nice clean faxes, with nice official cover pages for each year.

Heard on the news, due to congress extending the Bush tax cuts only two weeks before the end of the year, holiday vacations, snow storms, that the new forms won't be ready until late January or early February. If that quick in my opinion. Can't file taxes until those new forms are done.
