They advertise that they are closed on Sunday to allow the employees time with family. I have heard numerous rumors about religous ties such as SDA etc but when asked about it the company claimed no religous motives, rather family oriented motives...

the flawed logic comes with associating the catering of one event by a single location of a corporation, with the corporation itself.

Paul, this may be hard for you to accept but EVERYBODY has a right to not only care about whatever they want to, but also to exercise their first amendment rights to tell others about it! And I imagine some anti-religious people have already taken note of their apparent pro religious views and decided not to eat there. Making a big deal of it publicly would probably help the company more than hurt it, all the religious right-wingers would flock to the 'rescue' of this poor, unjustly 'persecuted' company. It is instructive that this no longer happens when the issue is gay rights. It seems that gay rights are being accepted by an ever increasing percentage of the general public and businesses recognize that it is the minority they curry favor with by opposing gays.

Paul, it's a national brand. If the corporation is releasing statements to address a controversy relating to one of their locations, it's because they are clearly concerned about what this incident is doing to their reputation beyond the location in question.

They made a statement because they were the ones getting the e-mails/phone calls/harassment over the issue.

The CEO plainly said they do this ####### all the time, and it meant nothing other than a business transaction. Which is true, but people are so eagar to jump down everyone's throat for being associated with some singular event. It's not like Chick Fil A was putting up anti-gay propoganda anywhere. Hell, it's not like they even do what WHATABURGER does have have "One Nation Under GOD" on all of their windows of their restaurants.....

Paul, everything company cares about its reputation. Public relations is just that, the company acknowledging that it has a relationship with the public through its brand. If that weren't the case, they wouldnt care about the allegation.

I don't think anyone has disputed that. The fact that the company is having to clarify it's position in light of this controversy suggests that there's more to Corporate public relations than "i can do what I want cause I can"

I am as pro-gay rights as anyone but who cares who a chicken restaraunt sells chicken to? I don;t care if they close on Sundays either even though religion is just a scam.

I have had their sandwiches and they are pretty good, but there is no Chick Fil A in Vermont. Probably because we have gay marriage instead.

ps, being closed on Sundays sounds like a BRILLIANT business decision to save money.. CF restaurants get there biggest rush hours M-F during lunch hours.
