It's not that easy to convert to my sect of Islam... it takes about 4 years (including waiting list time) to become a Shia Ismaili Muslim. Why? They want to make sure you truly want to convert for spiritual reasons...

I assume it's not as easy to convert to a Sunni Muslim either...

According to "The Koran For Dummies" there's a hadith where a Jew was brought before the caliph. His accusers wanted him put to death for apostasy because he converted to Islam but they caught him practicing Judaism. The Jew testified that the men, along with others, refused to do business with him because he was Jewish, and they threatened him as well. So he "converted" to save his business and his livelihood. The caliph asked the accusers if it was true, they admitted they may have been poor customers because he was Jewish and let him know that. The caliph released the Jew, told him to practice his religion as he saw fit, and to come back if he found his business suffering needlessly. Then he turned to the accusers and told them if they "helped" anyone else convert to Islam in this manner they would be the ones facing punishment. He further ordered them to be good customers of the Jew, and if they weren't they'd similarly be in trouble.

So according to you, Henia, these men are Muslim because they testifed that there is only one God and Mohammed is his prophet. If they renounce that testimony, do you believe they are apostates?

I know this question is for Henia but I need to respond...

Like I said in my earlier post...conversion to Islam should be done of free will not forced. Just because you say the Shahada doesn't necessarily mean you're Muslim. What I mean is...only shahada said out of faith and true desire is accepted. The Jew in this story was never really a Muslim. I think what Henia meant was that to convert to Islam it's as simple as saying the shahada. You don't have to go through a ceremony or anything.
