Hello All,

I am new here, I've been reading some of the posts about how long the process is to bring parents of US Citizen to USA. Some say it takes 5 months or 6 months but for others its more than 8. I am planning to start the process in Feb. (I am waiting for my income taxes paperwork) so I am confused with this timing. I would really like them to be here by end of August. My question is can I send the AOS papers with the petition together? this way it will make it faster? I know its going to be minimum 5 months.

please help me with answers

Thank you!

There is no adjustment of status from an Immigrant visa, you simply file an I-130 for each parent, and it works through system, they will then interview at consulate for IR-5 visas.

5-6 months just for USCIS to approve the I-130, after that 2-3 months at NVC and then a month or so at the consulate.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

No, you will be sending the I-864 to NVC when NVC request it, I-864 is not filed with petition to USCIS.

First of all, when you file I-130 for your parents, you do not need your taxes paperwork right away. USCIS will receive your I-130 and forward it to a certain service center where it will be processed in 5 months (sometimes sooner (in 3 months), sometimes later (6-7 months) - nobody knows for sure). Then, if your I-130 application is approved, you will get a NOA2 (approval notice) and your case will be sent from Service Center to NVC. And only then NVC would ask you to provide your taxes paperwork. So, if you want your folks to be in the US by August 2011, you need to start this process (send I-130) as soon as possible!

I filed I-130 for both parents in October 2010 and I am hoping to get NOA2 in February-March 2011 and then add 2-3 months for paperwork and visa process. So, hopefully I will see my parents here in May-June 2011.

Good luck to you!
