Hi all,

Our interview is begining of next month  . I have a few questions and would prefer to hear of recent experiences in last few months from those with CR1 visa:

I have noticed that recently folks mention DHL envelopes for visa delivery. I have not been able to understand if this is specific for K-1 visa processing or for all the immigrant visas( spouse CR1/ Fiancee K-1 etc.). Is ExpressPost envelopes no longer being used for visa delivery???

And lastly if the applicant lives in Montreal what will be the chances to ask for pick up of the passport at consulate. Again the experience of folks that have done this or live in Montreal would be appreciated.

Good luck to you all and thank you for your help.

Montreal no longer uses the Express Post envelope. You will need to log into http://www.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/ss_country_welcome and enter your information. Do not select an interview date if you have already been given one. You should be able to get to a screen to choose your DHL location. If it doesn't show up right away, don't panic. Try logging in the next day or the day after that.

My husband lives just outside of Montreal (Repengtigy) and we still used DHL. We had our interview this past Friday January 7th and he is picking up his passport/visa at the Anjou location today. We didn't personally inquire about being able to pick it up even though my husband basically lives in Montreal. What I have found through these forums and others experiences it that even though you live in the city, they prefer that you use DHL. In any case, our visa was available within two business days.

I hope this helps!

I was just going to post and ask that as well!

Also, I logged into the site you posted Jill & Jeff. I did sign up before, and it's telling me to set up an appointment since it says I don't have one. But the letter I received from the NVC says I do. The actual interview date I was given isn't updated on this website is it?

"Appointment Information

You currently have no appointment scheduled."

Just double checking! I did get one for the 10th of February. It just doesn't say on this website! And thank you for the DHL information! I'm glad it was answered!

Double posting:

Also Adding on, that website says:

All Nonimmigrant visa applicants must pay the Nonimmigrant visa application processing (MRV) fee prior to scheduling an appointment.

I don't know where to go about doing this, unless I just wait and pay at the interview.

Also, I am doing the CR-1 Visa, is that a fee of $140 USD? Just confirming! Sorry I ask 5000 questions as well!

CR1/IR1 is an immigrant visa, unless things have changed the $140 would not apply to you.

Don't schedule an interview if you have already been assigned one in your letter. For some types of visas, they can schedule their own interview. Even thought it will say, "you have no interview scheduled" there is no need to panic. You have your letter with your date in hand, and all is well. :) Signing up on that website is just so that you can choose a DHL location so when they approve your visa, then can mail it to the location you picked. :)
