Folks,

My wife and I have recently moved, and now have to fill out the AR-11 and I-865 forms. She already received her green card a few months ago, and we don't have any pending petitions or applications with USCIS (thank God that part is over with). I just have two quick questions:

1. Should we just send the AR-11 to the London, Kentucky office, or do we still have to send one to the local (Columbus, OH) office that did our AOS, or any other place for that matter?

2. The AR-11 form asks for my wife's "Port of Entry into U.S.", and the entry date. Should I put down her original date she arrived on the K-1 visa (last August), or the last time she entered the U.S. on advance parole (last April)?

Thanks for all of your help! :)

If you do not have a need to update your MAILING address, you don't need to do anything.

AR-11 is to register your whereabouts with CIS. AR-11 does not change your mailing address.

You can change your mailing address the next time you start a step (I-751).

As to the Port of Entry, please read the following thread: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=392498

"Filling out form AR-11

I need to submit a change of address form, AR-11. I entered the US via Miami, but my status was adjusted in Los Angeles.

What do I put in the "Port of entry" field? MIA or LAX?"

Ok so, if i get my greencard and then I move, I fill out the AR-11?

lol, you had to find the one post without my AR-11 spiel in it?!

If you are not a US citizen, you will file AR-11 everytime you move, forever. We've got to keep track of you ferriners you know.

How Do I Report a Change of Address to the USCIS?

(note that 'reporting' is nothing to do with mailing addresses!!!)

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/address.htm

All non-U.S. citizens (aliens) who are required to be registered are also required to keep the USCIS informed of their current address.

In the past, our predecessor, the INS, required every alien in the United States to report his or her address annually, in January. This requirement was eliminated in 1980 and annual reporting is no longer required. However, if you are not a U.S. citizen, the law still requires that you report any change of address change within 10 days of the change.

(nice blame job--like "INS" is someone else...)

Who Must Comply?

All aliens in the United States who are required to be registered under the law (INA § 262 and 261) must keep the USCIS informed of their changes of address.

USCIS has created an additional procedure and recommends additional notifications for those aliens who are also applicants for benefits.

What Should I Include?

For the Form AR-11: Complete the information requested on the form, including present address, last address (most recent only), alien or registration number, country of citizenship, date of birth, and your signature.

You do not need to include temporary addresses as long as you maintain your present address as your permanent residence and continue to receive mail there.

When sending us a change of address, you do not need to include numerous last addresses; only the most recent last address is needed.

Be sure to also indicate in the appropriate block on the AR-11 your current employment and school, where applicable.

Penalties for Failure to Comply

A willful failure to give written notice to the USCIS of a change of address within 10 days of the change is a misdemeanor crime. If convicted, the alien (or parent or legal guardian of an alien under age 14 who is required to give notice) can be fined up to $200 or imprisoned up to 30 days, or both. The alien may also be subject to removal from the United States. (INA § 266(B)). Compliance with the requirement to notify the USCIS of any address changes is also a condition of an alien’s stay in the United States. Failure to comply could also jeopardize the alien’s ability to obtain a future visa or other immigration benefit.
