There has never been a recorded case where a gun just went out and shot someone on it's own. There used to be firearms store here in MA that had a "gun cam" on it's website and it showed a gun sitting peacefully in a drawer. The camera was there to see if the gun showed any signs of danger.

No need to apologise, it narrows nothing down - other than that the gunman had a device that enabled him to shoot more bullets from his gun than would ordinarily be possible. Whether someone uses the right or wrong term for that device, it doesn't change the essential facts of the situation (or people's understanding of the events).

are you aware that you can purchase a firearm that shoots 9 .32 caliber projectiles at once, with just one pull of the trigger? that's 9 projectiles just marginally smaller than the 9mm used in the story!
