NOA2 VSC - Does it really helps to call or email them?

Hello fellow VJ members,

We are applying for K-1 visa and the NOA1 date of our I-129-F was last July 29, 2010. I did recommend to my fiancee to call before but i did not insist since we aren't on our 5 month period yet. But now, we are wayyyyy past the 5 month and he still refuse to call coz he think our lawyer will handle it plus he did asked assistance from someone who can contact representatives to call for our case. In his words, it will be a WASTE of his time to get involved (meaning calling or emailing).

So my question is... does calling or emailing works? I told him that it is just proper to follow-up something that is overdue... this is really testing our patience... and i am just glad that we really really love each other that in most days... we just laugh about it.

Oh by the way, we have to move our wedding day from February 14, 2011 to April 19, 2011 because we do not have the visa yet...

Contact your Congressperson, they can make a difference when your case is over the processing time. I would also not plan for any wedding until you have the visa in your hand. You have no real idea how long the process will take or what kind of hangups you might encounter.

If its a waste of your lawyers time to work on your case... might be time to get rid of the lawyer and do it yourself. You have more time to be on top of things and contact congress people and senators.

You know, we had the exact the same situation. Our lawyer said to wait, though our mark has passed and it has been 6 months and 15 days from filing our I-129F and my fiance was just like yours. :) Then I insisted for him to call and he talked to a very nice lady in Vermont and she apologized it took so long and she said that we should have called once 5 months has passed and we haven't received anything. Next day we got our NOA2 in email. So I advice you from our personal experience to call. Contacting our congressman didn't do ANYTHING at all. We didn't even get any response. Just it all proved me that everything is in our hands and we never can rely on lawyers and congressmen. :) Good luck!

18th March 2010- Application is accepted

23rd March 2010- Touched....

30th September 2010- Approved at USCIS Vermont

5th October 2010- Case was received at NVC

7th October 2010- Hard Copy NOA2

28th October 2010- Embassy received our case (US Embassy in Bangkok)

5th November 2010- Got Packet 3 from the Embassy

Hello, thanks for this... this is really very helpful, did you call this number? 1-800-375-5283, that's the only number i can see from their website...

I will show your answer to my fiancee and hope it will make him call... Thanks again.

Yes, we used whatever phone they provided on the website. It was really hard to get a hold of anyone. My fiance has to call few days before he actually reached a person. Good luck to you both! Uncertainty and waiting is always exhausting!

From what I have been readnig here, it seems like there is no one right answer. Things that worked like a miracle for one VJ member did nothing for another one, and so on.

So try each and see what happens, as you never know what is going to do it for you.

One person wrote that he called the 1-800 and chose the number for 'Don't know my filing number" even though he had one. The result was a human who was knwledgeable and helpful, instead of more voice prompts.

So you never know what will do it.

I would have him call at the 6 month mark. I was told at 5 months they can't look into the case until 1 month out of the normal processing time. I called they started working on my case right away. I was approved, but my lawyer forget to give them the copy of out marriage license translated so we got an rfe request for evidence. That delayed us 3 weeks now he had the chance to file back in November some forms he just sent them after I called and checked on our case. I agree lawyers are a waste of time and money. I would do it yourself from here on out.

. . . . your Congressperson, they can make a difference when your case is over the processing time.... yeah right! I called mine last week and then got a call back late yesterday. They were able to confirm that they still have my application (great... so they didn't lose it... very helpful...) and said that maybe I would hear something within 20 days. I called the 800 number last week since we are a few weeks now over the 5 month mark. They said to call back in 30 days. Last week I sent an email to the Vermont address and heard nothing back. I sent another email this afternoon. I'll give them until mid morning tomorrow to respond and then start sending emails every hour!

Thanks! Between my fiancee and I, I am the one who has the patience when it comes to paperworks and stuff, he hired the laywer to be sure that the I129F package is complete... I think that's the only thing that we need from them from here onwards.

I agree with you re: congressperson, i don't think they can help that much. If i am the NVC people, i would say, why the hell are they messing up with my job, plus congressperson comes and go, NVC people stays longer at their job... Anyway, i am babbling... hahahaha

I saw your timeline and you are a week earlier than us. We already sent an email yesterday, so please keep me updated when you get some good news... Thanks!

Can someone give me the email address for the the VSC?? I can't seem to find one. They have my application but I know the check was declined by my bank b/c my car and laptop were stolen and I had to freeze the account. I called the USCIS once to inform them of this and ask if I could send in another payment. But they told me the paperwork would be returned to me. That was 10 days ago and still haven't received the paperwork. I really would just like to send them another payment and them not return my paperwork.

I even have a I-797C receipt that makes it look as though they did cash the check but I know they didn't.

So if anyone could give me an email to write to, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Brandy
