Yes there are different types of sugar, but for purposes of weight control it doesn't make a whole lot of difference. Obviously you're going to be better off eating and apple than you are a bag of candy, but so what?

So what? Eating only vegetables but in a quantity such that your total calories consumed exceeds your total calories burned is also contrary to weight control efforts. Does that make vegetables unhealthy too? No.

At this point, it seems like you're more concerned with making Paul's diet look bad and less with actually making sense.

Great response. I'm starting to see what others around here have been seeing, I guess. What a shame.

I have no problem with disagreement, merely with the mode of disagreement.

You can interpret this how you like, i just get rather tired of people making outlandish and unreasonable interpretations of what I post and then insisting on personalising it as well. You can continue to escalate this if you wish, i really have no desire to.

BTW who honestly has a diet that consists of one type of food? I don't - I eat fruit, chocolate, chips etc. Most people do. Just not a lot of it. I prefer to regulate my sugar and fat intake by limiting consumption of certain foods, so what?

What outlandish and unreasonable interpretation of "Fruit is unhealthy" did I make. I also don't see where my mode of disagreement was personal or any different than it is with any other poster. I think your perception of this exchange has been different than mine.

Let's see, the suggestion was made that I was somehow comparing deep fried butter to fruits, when the point being expressed was merely that "as part of a balanced diet" is used to market nearly every type of food, including deep fried offerings. Seriously a very odd conclusion to draw from what was written.

Moreover, the phrase has no bearing on what a balanced diet actually is other than that people should moderate their consumption of foods containing high levels of saturated fat, salt and sugar. Fruits are generally high in sugar, some more than others. I didn't say don't eat them, only that apples, for example, are high in sugar.

What can I say? I'm an odd person who draws odd conclusions. And please forgive the mention of a balanced diet. Any other offenses I've committed?

And what you said was "fruit is unhealthy", which is the statement that I have a problem with, which is a statement that you stand by. Fruits are less healthy than vegetables, ok. But seriously, enough of this already. Let's just say that I agree, so that we can drop this.

I think this is the point to agree to disagree. Clearly what has happened is that we have misinterpreted the intentions behind each other's posts. For that, i apologise.

As I said, I have no desire to escalate this.

Oh, I think we're long past that point. Agreed. No hard feelings.
