The US Census Bureau report has published a list of America's wealthiest and poorest states based on the parameters of the median household income.

New Hampshire tops the list with the median household income of $65,028 and the remaining are as follows:

New Hampshire $65,028
New Jersey $64,918
Connecticut $64,644
Maryland $63,828
Alaska $62,675
Virginia $61,126
Utah $60,396
Massachusetts $59,732
Hawaii $58,469
Washington $58,404

Sweden? $30,000+ PPP

Put that in your socialist pipe and smoke it.

They are funny guys

quote:

average income in Sweden is less than average income for black Americans, which comprise the lowest-income socioeconomic group in this country.

I bet all the Swedes would like to move to Harlem or Milwaukee central or Gary Indiana

What next, Surrey or Sussex is like South Central LA ????

I think it was Goering who used to say - if you are going to tell a lie - make sure it's a big one and then everyone will believe you. The right in the US are past masters at this - I remember Americans sending food parcels to the UK in the 1980's when they swallowed all they read

These articles rank alongside WMD's and these obscure institutes are usually funded by the top 2% in the US when you trace em back

Lets see some photos of Sweden and Harlem or Gary Indiana - not the Dutch Harlem

How many of you posters have lived in both the US and Europe ?

Sat in your trailers peering out with your Glock and yo dawg and your GMC pick up truck and feeling like masters of the world.

Have a look around Berlin or Southern England or Switzerland and see if they look like an American ghetto - really !

The numbers don't lie. The purchasing power parity is the right way to determine the

relative values of two currencies.

Otherwise, what good is $50,000 in Sweden if it only buys $30,000 worth of goods,

by US standards?

Right wing numbers don't lie ? I am choking on my biscuit.

My wife's family are all employed - 2 with degrees, one with a master's - I have more money than the whole bunch put together and I know how they live.

I retired at 54 - I don't know any American worker who can do that. 11 years to Medicare at 12kpa for insurance ? No way

My dad was a co-op grocery van driver. My mother was a part time tea lady. I was employed, not a business owner

Only in America ? The American dream ? It's not true and plenty of places live easier lives with nice vacation time, free health care, early retirement and great opportunities. Americans are brain washed into thinking this is the only place where people can make it .

Obama brags 'only in America' would his story be possible - that is so much hog wash and plenty of people have made it from the bottom. Apart from the power to kill people, his power in the government isn't that much anyway. He couldn't even chop 7 rounds off my 17 round glock mag coz they wont let him!

Read about this guy - he accomplished more than Obama ever will even if he serves 2 terms - and he left school at 13 - not like Obama with his cushy universities

(It's possible we are related as my granddad's mother was Sarah Bevan and came from the same area)

Wikipedia prints right wing numbers?

Anecdotal evidence - doesn't prove a damn thing. I make over 10 times what my friends

make in the UK, but I'm not going to generalize and claim to be representative of

the general population.

And that's all great and all but didn't you say that throughout your career you were often working in the US?

BTW. My dad retired at 55.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

If wiki tells me that Swedes are not doing as well as minorities in US ghettos - I prefer to use common sense when I am evaluating that information

If Wiki said most Americans are brainwashed morons ignorant of anywhere outside the country, I would reject that too because I know for sure that it's less than 50%

What is it with Americans that they cannot accept that there is anything better in any aspect of life outside the US and they have to be BEST in everything ? It really gets up the noses of the populations all round the world and is the main fuel for anti-Americanism. Why can't Americans admit that some things are better in the their country and some things are WORSE.

That's what everyone else does after all. I am quite prepared to write a long list of what is wrong with England but an American can't do that about the US except to say he doesn't want any part of American life to look like England

If I go to a dinner party and stand up and say that I have looked around the room and my wife is definitely better looking and has a better figure than any woman in the room - I will get exactly the same reaction as what tub-thumping Americans get from foreigners

I keep pointing this out but Americans seem blind to it and won't believe they are not number one in EVERYTHING

'Swaggering braggarts' is a pejorative term in every other society - why is it a badge of success in the US ? Here a woman can say " Look at my teeth - they so white and they are the best". In every other country that is unacceptable so it's a cultural difference I guess and they are the hardest to change. It would be like saying to an Englishman that he was speaking quietly and why doesn't he shout and bawl all the time so he sounds like he means what he is saying. He simply could not do it - he couldn't make the adjustment

They say 'pride comes before a fall' and if that is true it's going to be a big fall

There is no hope with the gun thing because it is cultural and ingrained. Mix it with the idea that no other country does ANYTHING better and America has NOTHING to learn from any foreigner, and we have the status quo

How long before this thread re-opens after the next mass killings ? Not long folks so watch this space

Well, I think you are exaggerating and there is nothing wrong with looking after one's teeth.

It seems you are doing OK with it for an Englishman.
