When is it right to avail oneself of the 2nd amendment?

I used to go to Belfast twice a month and I had a British Army rifle pointed at my head from 3 feet away more than once. It can ruin ones concentration when trying to drive off on a roundabout (a circular 4 way stop ?)- but I got used to it. We had two factories - a Catholic one and a Protestant one - everyone was scared of guns at both factories. I think it's just like a big video game here and most of these guns nuts would change their mind if they got involved with a REAL killing. I bet most of em are weedy little buggers who stack shelves at Walmart on night shift and need to boost their fragile egos and stroke their powerless existence. Just like this brave shooter in Arizona who gave up as soon as someone clipped his lug hole and brought him to reality.

Most American workers have little vacation and bad conditions and can be fired easily and few rights - they must be needing to compensate for their low status by buying a BIG GUN and stroking it every night while they watch 'how to blow up a groundhog' videos. Groundhogs are about their match. Little ones anyway.

You could duct tape your windows in case some unknown terrorist decides to use chemical weapons in your area....you know, just in case.

I am not worried about that, since I live miles away from built up areas. I am not really even worried about the local vegetarian socialist collective deciding to take over Carr's Drive-in and limiting our menu choices to those that do not contain animal products. We need more tourists, so I would not be bothered if Bedouins pitched tents across the road st Steelhead Beach. What I am prepared for, is when the big one hits the greater San Francisco Bay Area, and marauding bands of housewives want to fight me for the last Krispy Creme at the nearest Starbucks.

FYI none of those rifles ar AKs or "Armalites" Armalite is a manufacturer of firearms that developed the AR series of rifles but never made them in any quantity. They sold the rights to manufacture them.

3rd is an M1 carbine. made in the USA during WW2 and provided to the British by the thosaunds during WW2, also used by the millions by US GIs in WW2. Probably a derelict form that war.

Next is an Enfiled Mk IV, standard British service rifle in WW2. All were obsolete for military duty in 1970

That is a fact not an insult. Napoleon Bonaparte and all that. I worked with a little guy and he had the biggest car in the fleet.

I reckon the willingness to kill defenceless animals, strut around Walmart with a gun on one's ankle and fantasize about 'equalizers' is all part of the same syndrome

Go on any internet gun site and look at the standard of spelling - it's says a lot about the average guy who is interested in killing those with power over him - be it someone taller or the government or something defenceless like a ground hog

They post things like "I am not interested in a humane kill because coyotes kill calves without mercy". I shoot em in the gut so I can watch em die slow ... Really that is how many of them are.

I never met this level of sadism and aggression and play violence before and it will have to go in the next 100 years.

Putting blind faith in any man made document is pretty odd. Of course, you don't have to do anything Gary, I'm inviting opinion not demanding you do this, that or the other thing. What's telling to me is that you can't explain why owning a gun makes you and your fellow Americans more free than people who live in other mature democratic countries that do not have the 2nd Amendment. Why not take a stab at it? Or are you simply a believer in the gospel of the NRA?

What do you say I am ready for? I never said anything about the army at my door. Ever. You have to invent things to argue about I never argued. Incredible. You are assuming I have a fantasy and then trying to say it is unreasonable. Wow. I don't have a fantasy. I have a lot of guns. It is my right to do so. I carry a gun with me everywhere. It is my right to do so and I do not need to explain it, defend it or have a fantasy about it. It is my right, just as it is my right to type this, to listen to what I want to say that God is a fairy tale. You don't have to like it or agree with it, it doesn't change the right to do so. If you choose to be unarmed, I have no problem with that.

Amazing that the gun haters are so quickly reduced to babbling and arguing things that don't exist. Just incredible.

If you want a scholarly explanation of the 2nd amendment, I refer you to the Heller decision. I do not think I can explain it better. After you read that, read the McDonald decision.
