Terrible tattoos

the most disturbing thing about the first tattoo with the Twilight scene is that the woman who has it appears well into middle age....

I know. That's definitely a "I'm middle-aged and given up" haircut on her. Those wacky Twi-hards!

My boyfriend has several large tattoos, and I've come to appreciate them even though I used to think tattoos were all terrible. Most of his relate to his doctoral thesis, and include images from Miro, Kandinsky, Magritte and Lichtenstein, as well as a short phrase in Proto-Indo-European (one of my personal passions), a silly little rebus, and a great big honking depiction of Hemoglobin A (2W6V) on his chest, which is due to be featured in a book on Science Tattoos later this year.

Yes, I know ALL of the above is supremely dorky.

I don't think people should get tattoos just for the sake of getting a tattoo.. it should have some meaning behind it.. our nephew has been getting a lot of crappy tattoos.. he has one on his elbow that is a spider web with the Honda symbol... he also has one of his last name that is tattooed across his upper back... plus a bunch of other ones

my husband has a tattoo but it is very special for both of us because it memorializes our son.. he would like to get another one for his mom..

I think all tattoos are pretty terrible.

Ditto for mass piercings.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Agreed.

I have 2 tattoos. I love them both. They are easily covered if I want, but also easily shown. I'd like another.

Me too. I never even got one while I was in the navy.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

My hubby has 3. Two are from his military days, one depicting where he was stationed at the time of getting it, and the other involves guns.

His third is thanks to his sister. She has the same tatt in a different location. That one he just let her pick 'cause they're on his back. I don't mind tatts but:

- sleeves

- tramp stamps

- genitalia tatts

- face tatts

and generally any visible tatts are just... gross basically.

There was this girl I went to uni with she was a bit of a hippie and wore flowy kinda short tops. She had these two dolphins around her belly button and it was weird looking. She'd had a kid and it was all sorts of distorted. She told me once that she really regretted having the tatt there and wished she knew that would happen. She also had one down near the hip and she said the same had happened. There went any notions of me getting one. I just don't know what changes my skin would/will go through and I don't wanna risk it going all kinda freaky looking like hers did.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Tattoos are the mark of Satan.

You sound like the deacons who taught the subject Christian Living in the Catholic high school where I went to. innocent.gif

Anyway, I say NO to tattoos.
