thank you all. for such thorough answers, i really appreciate it. as of now i am closing this chapter of my involvement. i did all i can as a friend to both f them just to see if they could find a way to work things out. and while the husband is willing to meet half way and offer some type of compromise to give their relationship a chance, she is not budging! she wants out,but with all the benefits, she refuses to meet him half way. she wants him to still continue the petition because of their son, and also give her an apartment, a car and help her to go to get her bachelors degree. and all that, but refuses to offer any sort of compromise on her part. so i told them that as of now, i am out of it. because i refuse to take sides, and it has become clear to me that she really only wanted to get the green card. it's not my place to point fingers so i am done.

You're welcome. Hopefully, when she realizes her child is likely to have parents living in separate countries, she'll be motivated to compromise.
