I am a member of another immigration board, Family Based Immigration It is smaller and I don't think as good since it does not have the level of resources that we have here. But the administrator there did upload some informative articles on immigration, including some USCIS office memorandums, which gives the reader some good insight as to how this secretive society operates. You can google it for the URL since I am not supposed to post the URL here.

The boards I moderated at are not immigration based but are instead focused on other topics.

I am also getting quite tired of waiting as the 5 month mark keeps nearing. Unfortunately, it might take even longer than 6 months . There have been some cases, as of late, that have taken closer to 6 months rather than 5... It is hard to keep being optimistic and patient as months have gone by with no activity, whatsoever. Luckily, once we get our NOA 2, we can be happy that the longest leg of the process will be behind us!

Best wishes! (F)

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Hello! Try and get support from your family, friends, and try not to focus too much on the Time Gap between NOA1 & 2!! Like others have said we are all in the same boat on this. I should be getting our NOA2 this month ( Fingers Crossed) and I know all about the Time issue and how it is affecting my Fiance -- we stay strong, support each other every day!! Call and talk to your fiance every day if you can, support each other, mail card, small gifts -- Anything to make the time pass. But more important stay upon all your records, polish all your information so that when your NOA2 comes you can be on it!! The process from there is really fast to the Interview date! -- Hang in there it is all worth it !!!

Because it came up as http://*hidden*, so I presumed it is not allowed here.

It is easy enough to google if you are interested.

Kathryn,

I didn't tell anybody to "wet their pants". I gave my reaction to the title of the thread. It was intended as humor but should have had a smiley to indicate that. I went on to invite the OP to join the club because we all wait. (past or present)

My first sentence was... bold added for emphasis.

"Can't wait anymore" as a thread title prompted, me to think, "Then go ahead and wet your pants."

Once I read the message, I responded both to the title and the post. I would suggest that those who cannot read for context, may well not be ready for "do it yourself" immigration processes. I think we all know that when anybody but a small child who doesn't know better says, "I can't wait....." they don't mean it literally. Pleas for sympathy get varying responses from humans, some more reality based than others and some more "helpful" than others. It is for each to judge when and where sympathy will be more helpful than a reality based reminder.

As Kathryn so clearly stated, regardless of one's opinion on what is more helpful, personal attacks are not either the proper response or an allowed response on VJ.

It seems " wet your pants" isnt enough to be considered insulting the OP. I will never understand how the TOS rules are applied. Some members are allowed to do as they please while others are condemed. What is constructive about tell someone to go ahead and wet their pants?

The "wet their pants" statement was a joke, in relation to the title of not being able to wait anymore. I understood it as nothing but an attempt at humour, definitely not an attempt at an insult.

To the Op.. I agree with most of these people in saying that there is not much you can do about it unless you are past the 5-6 month period.

I also agree that different people will react different to posts, Almost everyone has gone through having to wait at some point, some went the AOS way and might have not had to wait as long but they did have to stay put for awhile.

I went through the noa-1/noa-2 very quickly but then went through NVC and waiting for the interview for many months. We all hate the wait , we all wish it was simplier but there is not any other way so we wait it out.

I kind of take offense to what someone said about "us", the people who are finally where we are meant to be, forgetting what it was like to be in "your" position. I do not think that anyone who has gone through the journey will ever forgot what we went through to get where we are. We fought to be here just as hard as anyone else. SOme people will however move on and live their wonderful lives together as one and try to think of the times that were hard that are now over with.

Back to topic..

Op hang in there and once it is over you will feel like the journey and time apart was always worth it.

Cheer up, always express yourself and be around family and friends. You will get through it :)

I have been in your situation and yeah it does sucks, it's an arbitrary process with the uscis and sad cos we can't do anything about it, it's hard to have that enduring patience too during these times, but just help yourself, get busy with other things, try not to check your status too often, take a break from looking at the approvals here in vj so it won't disheartened you, i know it's hard but that's what you need to do, don't do the advice "withdraw the petition" it's totally nonsense, you'll get your approval too like me, right now the best thing to do is just PRAY, i won't even ask you to stay positive cos that's really a hard thing to do now, just pray, pray and pray, it really worked for me! good luck! :)

I mean no disrespect, praying helps, but there are other solutions too, be proactive and call the USCIS and ask to be escalated to find out the case-status, I had to resort to this when we didn't receive anynews after 5 months, only speaking to a USCIS office did we find out that a RFE(request for additional evidence) was mailed out on Dec.29/10. There are other recourses, hmmm hmmm. to the poster of "wet-your-pants", dont' give up, like the ombudsman of USCIS if the 5 month waiting period is not met, in our case USCIS made a typographical error which may have impeded the process, hence we could have a case for "expedite". Please email directly if you want more details

Cheers.
