Hello Everyone!!

What is the process for scheduling the K-1 visa interview with the Embassy in Brazil. Do they automatically send me a date after they receive the packet from the NVC or do I call and schedule the appointment myself?? I ask this because I am 5 months pregnant but I want to fly back to Brazil to attend the interview with my Brazilian fiance. Obviously I am dealing with some strict time constraints as far as traveling overseas. I applied for my fiance's K-1 visa back in August and it seems that the Vermont visa servicing center is EXTREMELY backed up and will bypass the 5 month NOA2 approval date that they have promised. If anyone has any suggestions on contacting them about my situation in hopes of getting my case expedited, PLEASE let me know. Otherwise, I am hoping that I can somehow schedule my interview almost immediately after receiving the NOA2. PLEEEEEEASE HELP!!!!!

The consulate will schedule the interview for you. Once NVC confirms that they have sent your case to the consulate, give it a couple of days to arrive, then you can email them and ask to know the date of your interview. For us it was about one month after leaving NVC. I don't think that being pregnant will cause them to expedite your case, but others can chime in here. You do not have to be at the interview in Rio. I was not able to attend my husband's interview, and there was no problem. I know some consulates are more strict with that, but everyone I have talked to that did the interview alone was fine. Just make sure he has all of the necessary paperwork filled out correctly. You can find all that info on the consulate's website. Good luck!
