My wife and I have been married for nearly 2 years. We never got around to changing her name on her passport, and she is still on her conditional 2 year green card. We are returning to NZ in April for her brothers wedding. Will the maiden name on her Passport cause problems with her getting back in the country?

No, all she needs is the marriage certificate. The tickets must be in her passport name.

No it shouldn't if her passport and green card match no problems! ;)

Her passport and Green Card are in different names. Green Card is Married name (current name), passport is in Maiden name.

The tickets were made in her passport name. So we just need to have the Marriage Certificate with us on the trip?

Just a correction here, the tickets can be in the name of ANY government issued photo ID, not just passport name. Yes a passport is government ID but it isn't a requirement that it must be passport. Here is my post about it: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/183541-land-downunder-aussie-aussie-aussie-oi-oi-oi/page__view__findpost__p__4135806 with a CBP link, and email from TSA explaining it.

I personally had my passport in my maiden name, GC in married and tickets in married. I had NO problems. I showed my passport to prove I could fly, and GC as proof of name. At security points i showed only my GC and tickets. When I arrived in Australia I showed my GC too as proof of name. No-one looked at me funny or questioned me about it. I carried my married certificate just in case but never needed it.

The reason its important to me to make sure people know this is because I planned to change my passport (and ALL my other ID) when I was in Australia. I faced the issue of people telling me "passport name ONLY" but then there's this crazy fee ($200 sometimes) to change my ticket name once I change my passport so I didn't know what I was supposed to do. Some people were telling me to book TWO flights, one way each and that was just really $$. So I emailed TSA asking about it because I didn't want to run into trouble. That's when I got that email reply from TSA (in the link I posted above) and so I booked in my married name. Like I said I had no issues so there you go.

Book in your government-issued photo ID. For me that was my GC but the link above explains more :)
