At this point that seems like the clear conclusion but....had this guy sent even $10 to Palin..... or showed up at a Tea Party event at some point..... the whole spin on this story would be re markedly different.

The loon angle would be out shadowed by the "This is the fruit of the tea-party".

Politically speaking, it's no doubt in the Countries best interest that this guy seems a lone-loon, and hopefully we will not waste time finger pointing over whose child he is.

By the same token one could say that Obamacare is responsible. Makes as much sense, but no doubt someone, or many someones, will try to make some issue or something and promote their "cause" on the deaths of these people.

Ummm, offering her protection doesn't in any way take away my liberty. And people on both sides, right and left, toning down their rhetoric doesn't take away my liberty.

Some things are not Conservative vs. Liberal. Some things are right vs. wrong. Good vs. Evil. If you can't see the evil in this then..........

Sure it does. It takes away from our tax dollars. As I said, if she wants to pay for security or anyone else, then that's their prerogative. Expecting us to pay for it, does take more liberty away.

Also on top of that, the type of extra security it would take would not be pretty and we might as well live in a totalitarian state then.

Have you seen that cops at the G-20 conferences? The way the 'pigs' act at those things? Giving them that power on a normal basis is unacceptable.

All these idiots in Canada said, 'oh we're different, cops won't act that way here' and now they are being investigated for charges to be brought against them.

There's not an 'easy' way to protect a politician.

actually yeah, you understand the risks when you take that position.

You know that the rates for death in the line of duty or while at work for fireman, police and military are far below that of more dangerous jobs such as construction, right? So maybe those guys don't need any protections either because they know the risks? Why must we have this nonsense talk?

If you really think our elected representatives voting to spend some of our tax dollars for security takes away our liberty then I don't think you really know the definition of liberty.

Making it an 'event' means stopping it in the future. How do you propose to do that without taking away even more liberty.

Better security at public events wouldn't hurt. We don't allow guns in schools or courthouses, do we?
