Law makers don't need a secure venue, nor should they get one unless they use their own $$$.

If you're going to get shot, then perhaps it's on you and your policies.

The second amendment is there for that reason. To overthrow an out of control government. There again though, if you're doing this in a small Arizona district, it's a damn waste of time. You want to make a big bang, you've got to think bigger than a lowly congressman and need to take out multiple higher officials.

While I agree the purpose of the second amendment is to restrain the "government" (it is NOT to protect duck hunting or skeet shooting) Random executions of elected representatives is not a government overthrow. Nor is it how our founding fathers mounted a revolution to secure our freedom.

There are people on here that irrationally wish to take away our right to keep and bear arms, please do not feed them with nonsense (it is the staple of their diet)

Trauma doc 'optimistic' about Giffords' recovery

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is in critical condition after being shot through the head, but a trauma doctor is "optimistic" about her future.

"At the current time, I'm very optimistic about her recovery," said Dr. Peter Rhee, University Medical Center trauma director.

Giffords was shot Saturday, along with 17 other people, at an event at a Tucson shopping center. Five people have died.

Among the dead were U.S. District Judge John Roll, a 9-year-old girl and an aide in Giffords' office.

Jared Lee Loughner, 22, of Tucson, is in custody.

Just sharing. And no I don't think she had anything to do with it personally. But there are plenty of nutbags out there, who see something like this as fodder for their crazy ideas.

I would agree that Palin's target chart is irresponsible and gives wackos an excuse to target specific politicians, but I don't think this kid was influenced by it. He did mention something about his District (8) in one of his videos, but he doesn't seem to follow any particular political ideology....he's just insane.

Like John Kerry? Maybe John Edwards cheated on his wife with cancer because of this? Maybe stuff like this is why Micheal Moore makes movies with no connection to reality?

I'm sure he's a lot of things. Again, just putting it out there. I know there is a lot of information still to be gathered. Not personally jumping to any conclusions here.
