Contract labor petitioner having both W2s and 1099?Please help

Hello VJ members,

PLEASE help me understand because i am starting to have headache again,why is my fiance having both W2s and 1099 in the same company where he was a contract labor,What will this mean? Thank you VJ members.

It could be that his employer decided to change his status from independent contractor to employee or vice versa. Or it could be an accounting error. Are the amounts reported as Non-employee compensation on the 1099 and the amount reported as wages on the W-2 the same?

If the income shown on line 22 of the tax return is sufficient, no worries. Let the US Citizen deal with this issue, as they are best equipped to state and document their own income.

If the amount on the 1099 and W--2 are the same you need to get your fiance to check with his employer to make sure that the amounts on the 1099 and W-2 are correct. You definitely don't want him to get taxed twice on the same income.
