You should call them and write to your Congress Member. Do both. You need to pressure USCIS,, otherwise they will either ignore you or send you one of those nonsense form letters to call back in 30 days. Your theme in both cases is that you see everyone else getting approved in 5 to 5 1/2 months, therefore there must be a problem with yours. In actuality, a lot of people are getting pushed out to 6 months and even more, but don't tell them that, as telling them that will only get them to jump on their stupid form letter.

If they tell you that "everyone is out to 6 months", don't hesitate to open up Igor's list and tell them "Well I see that XX got his in 5 months and YY got his in 5 months 1 week and ZZ got his in 5 months and 2 weeks". Show them that you are armed with the facts and cannot be fooled by their nonsense.

Whether you get a useful response or not, tell us here about what happened so we can all brainwork your next move together.

This is not a time to be passive and just wait. If you want results, you need to be very aggressive with them.

Good luck to you.

To be honest the USCIS has a job to do and could careless about your phone calls or letters or senators, you are a size of an ant to them. If everybody who filed called them, sent letters to them, or call their senators then the system will be even more broken then it is. USCIS don't care about Igor's List, it is irrelevant with USCIS. Once you send in the K-1 or whatever you are applying for you will need to set it on cruise control and let it roll. It's time to stop giving false hope by advising to call or try to get the USCIS's attention on your file, it's very doubtful that it will work.

My fiance and I have been waiting for our NOA2 for 6 months and 15 days. Our lawyer kept saying to us: wait, wait, wait... Finally, we just decided not to wait anymore. My fiance called to USCIS, they were actually shocked and apologized it took so long and next day we got our NOA2. They told him that we shouldn't have waited any longer once 5 months mark passed. So my advice- call them. It worked for us! :)

^ That is a surprise! Our lawyer called USCIS on January 4th and found out they "sent an RFE December 22nd" but we never got one. They promised they'd send it again, and our status changed to RFE online the next day. Coincidence? Who knows.

Some people seem to call and call and call and all it does is make them feel productive (or even more frustrated) though it achieves little for their application. Others call and find out information that hasn't been posted yet, or talk to someone who reassures them progress is being made, or like you, approve the application the same day. It really does seem to be different for every single situation.

April, 2009 - We met

May, 2009 - We wooed

June, 2010 - We got engaged, looking forward to a small August 2010 wedding

** Reality Check: K-1 Process**

**5 months of patient waiting**

December 29, 2011 - call around for information about delay

January 5, 2011 - RFE notice (first online status update yet!)

January 10, 2011 - RFE Hardcopy

January 13, 2011 - RFE Response acknowledged

January 24, 2011 - NOA2 (at last!!)

February 3, 2011 - application sent from NVC to Montreal (aka. the Abyss?)

March 7, 2011 - Packet 3 sent to me

March 10, 2011 - Packet 3 delivered to Montreal

March 21, 2011 - Packet 4 sent to me

But if enough of us had our Senators call, it would be a big enough hassle for them to make it not an ant but instead an infestation of ants. And if we keep it up long enough and hard enough, they will get the message that they need to reorganize their priorities to get all of us done within 5 months.

Forgive me for being blunt, but I could not care less about TPS applicants or work visa applicants. If they waited 10 years for their petitions to be processed, that would be fine with me. We are in a unique position that we can go the Congressional contact route. Non-citizens cannot do that. So if they and we are in competition for priority access to scarce resources and we have this one edge, let's use it and use it hard.

As for it not working, true it doesn't always work. But I have read many cases here where it did. You owe it to yourself and to your fiance to exploit every tool at your disposal to get maximum advantage in this fierce competition. If none of the tools work, at least you tried.

You are so so so wrong with what I bolded. USCIS is an agency within the government. Specifically it is under the Department of Homeland Security. All these agencies are funded by the US government, specifically, the Senators and Congressman which they "could care less about" are what give them their budget and money to operate. If they annoy Senators and Congressman enough, especially those on the committee's that specifically handle budgeting and funding, they could have their budget cut, which no federal agency wants at all. Trust me, it happens all the time and it will happen here if enough people complain and the Congress notices a trend.

Holding the government accountable for it's lack of action is what the United States is all about. It is why we have freedom of speech among other rights. Everyone here who has been passed over by the stated process time should indeed call USCIS, Call their Senators and Congressman as it brings attention to them, especially when contacting Congressman and Senators. You can't fix a problem if those who have the ability to fix it arent aware of it.
