For the Vancouver consulate:

Most of the items you have to prepare are to be brought to the interview (criminal record check, immunization records, 156 & 156k). Packet 3 has the full details of these, but some of them take time so you should find the checklist and start working through it now.

The only things you have to mail/email/fax back to the consulate when you get packet 3 (which is just a 1 page letter with a link that anyone can access) are forms DS-230 and the checklist. The checklist asks you to indicate that you have everything ready for the interview, which I don't yet, but I will by the time I have my interview (didn't want to wait till I had it all in hand to book the interview, as I'd then be waiting another month!).

If you email the consulate right after you fax those two things in, they'll email you the link to the site where you pay your fee and book your appointment. That address is all you need from packet 4 (which is just a single page letter -- and I got it today, the day after I faxed my forms in).

Raldetta... a funny question but what size and how heavy was the NOA2 Packet 3? We will be having our packet sent to us from his mom's in Virginia to Japan when it arrives and I wanted to have the envelope ready and prepaid if possible before I leave so it will get to us quicker and easier.

Thanks - Janis :luv:

Good news on our RFE... received the hardcopy today and all they asked for was a copy of Mark's birth certificate or passport, 2 passport sized pics of him and a copy of both of our divorce papers. Easy stuff.

I am guessing that the package of additional info I sent might have made it into the file because it had a copy of my passport, our letters of intent and proof of our relationship in it, which was what I expected them to ask for since it wasn't sent with our original package. Woo hoo!!!

...2 passport sized pics of him...

I'm wondering how many passport sized pics it really need. In the i-129F instruction,it requests one pic from petitioner, and one pic from beneficiary. Did we miss reading anything? So confused, thinking whether we will get a RFE too.

Pretty strange I know. Wasn't requested anywhere and didn't expect that to be on the RFE. I didn't include any of me, the beneficiary, (except a copy of my actual passport sent after the fact) but will be getting 4 before I go for my medical as required. Fingers crossed you don't get an RFE but if you do you can at least be prepared with pictures. :luv:

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR NOA2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im so happy for you guys! It has been a long and rocky road, thank goodness it is finally coming to an end for our little January group. We're still waiting to get ours, but as I wouldn't be able to get my medical done or to the interview until August anyway, I'm happy to wait a little longer. I actually didn't even realize that we were past our 5-month mark!!!

I want to thank everyone for their love and support - I really must say that VJ has kept me sane these past months after filing our I-129F. So thank you :-) there's still a lot to be done after NOA2, so let's keep each other posted on how things are going for each and everyone of us also in the future!

Caroline, that's so amazing that you got your NOA2 while you're there with Angelo! What a surprise, first you flying over for a surprise visit, and then getting your NOA2 while you are there is just icing on top of the cake!

11/30/2010 I-129F package sent

5/16/2011 NOA2

TNA, this is all the beneficiary from now on. Feel free to start filling out the form immediately and send it in. Definately fax in the DS-230. Are you going to the Montreal or Vancouver consulate? Sorry, missed your last question. After you send in Packet 3, they will send you a letter saying you can book your appointment online. Process is slightly different between Vancouver and Montreal.

I was looking at from DS-230 http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/81807.pdf

Q#35 in page 2 says " List dates of all previous visits to or residences in the US"

Do they mean all the visits to US in ur life? That is faaaar too many to count! I go to USA multiple times a year..how are we supposed to write all these visits? What have you guys written?

Edited by TNA
