Hi guys :) I've asked this in another topic too, but I just thought I'd repeat the question here as well (cause yes, I am getting quite nervous):

I'm flying out to JFK this Friday to visit my fiance for 11 days. If asked purpose of visit I'm still not sure whether to say "vacation" or "to visit my fiance"...is it really OK to say vacation? I don't want them to think I was lying if they ask further and find out I am staying with my fiance...I am so nervous once again, it'll be my first visit since we filed in January.

I am going to visit my fiance in 28 days also, i was wondering the same thing!

From personal experience they ask 'what is the purpose of your visit?' and i am inclined to say, to visit my fiance for a week. Like you, i think it would look a lot worse for them to further inquire and then find out who you were visiting! Honesty is the best policy!

Just returned from my second visit to the US since the NOA1. Both times I said I was visiting my fiance and there wasn't a problem. The first time I was asked when we were getting married and I said when our visa process is complete, hopefully in the fall. I had a copy of the NOA1 and ties to Canada but haven't been asked or questioned about any of that. My advice would be to my honest and look them in the eye. I'm sure it will be fine. Good luck and have a good vacation!

When I flew over to visit I only said vacation and got no further questioning, not even a questioning look. Which is why I really wonder if they can see on their computer that you are applying for a K1 visa. I have heard good arguments supporting it and good arguments saying against, so who knows... If I get questioned next time I fly over I'll ask them

I do agree with you both though, that honesty is the best way to go. If you are doing everything by the book and are able to show strong ties to home country, I am absolutely sure there will be no problems whatsoever. Especially since you both Caroline and Sarah are not from high fraud countries (no offense to anyone who comes from these countries!!!). But yeah, I SOOO understand the nervousness! I was biting my nails throughout the whole flight over and planning ahead what to say if I got questioned. It was such a disappointment when I didn't :bonk:

Josh was just here visiting for 10 days and took another big suitcase full of my clothes, books, plates etc back over with him. Now I'm counting the days to fly over to be with him the whole summer: 3 weeks and 4 days!

I'm so happy for everyone who already got their NOA2 - CONGRATS EVERYONE!!!!!!

Looks like Vermont is now pushing them out like never before so hopefully we will be getting ours soon too!

I believe that the last two times Kata has come to visit he said he was visiting his girlfriend.

He hasn't had any trouble. This was through O'Hare/Chicago.

Based on other things I have read, I would be 100% honest and just bring document of ties to Germany. Being honest about proceeding with K1 visa and having the NOA1 with you shows you are doing things the right way and avoids any chance they may think you are trying to put one past them.

I think it boils down to whether or not the guard takes the time to actually read over his screen. When I drive across the border they read and point at the screen then start asking me questions. My fiance was told by the border guards when he drove that his name is tied in with mine now. When I flew across through Denver the guard didn't even bother looking at the screen. So i think they do know its just a matter of how lazy the guard is.

So.

I'm gathering my information for the I-134 right now.

Trying to stay positive about getting the NOA2 last week.

Kata is here with me and doesn't plan on going back to the UK until the end of the month.

(We were expecting a longer wait on the NOA2... go figure.)

It just seems like things are working against me, though.

Kata can't seem to find his signed passport photos for the police certificate.

Ugh. I'm hoping he finds them.

Otherwise, we're going to get new ones made.

Then we have to send everything back to the UK to get re-signed/affirmed and then sent out from there.

As much as I love the fact that Kata is here with me right now, I do kind of wish we'd just skipped the visit.

If we had, he could be moving forward with the police certificate.

He could do the medical sooner, and probably get the interview sooner, too.

We were really stressed out by the distance, which is why I wasn't posting much.

Now, it's the stress of things actually moving and needing to juggle to get things done.

Thanks for their input everyone  Still very nervous but I think I'll say "visit my fiance"...it's a short visit and I'll have the following with me:

- copy of the NOA1

- copy of the 1-129F package

- return ticket/itinerary

- certificate of enrollment at university

- official letter stating the approval of the topic for my bachelor's thesis, and that I am required to turn it in by June 22nd

- copy of schedule for my semester (bachelor's thesis deadline + final oral exam date that I need to take in order to graduate)

- latest bank statement (proof of funds and bank account in Germany)

I'm hoping this is enough in case I encounter any trouble but LET'S HOPE NOT!:whistle:
